In response the article on San Anselmo-Fairfax Patch " it is unfortunate that the Fairfax Town Council terminated the Sept. 2010 contract for Muni Services to provide discovery, audit and business license administration services to the town and its constituents, amounting to an estimated annual savings of more than $30,000.

Th that pay the business license fee, namely outsourcing the work, contracting with businesses outside of Fairfax, and charging fees for services rendered.

The Fairfax Town Council should embrace outsourcing to provide services in the most efficient manner to its constituents. The money to provide services comes from Fairfax citizens and the town council should exercise a degree of fiduciary duty to its citizens, rather than acquiesce to the wishes of the businesses that pay the tax, and explore and institute best practices for providing services. The philosophy of outsourcing municipal services is continually discussed throughout California and those decisions rightfully remain with the town council. Money saved by outsourcing could be used for additional services or savings, including the reduction of administrative fees, by ensuring that all revenues are actually billed and collected, not by advocating the passage of new taxes.

Muni Services, the company that provided services to Fairfax, is a business with strong roots throughout California. Muni Services works on-site, provides personalized services to address the needs of government clients, and accomplishes this by leveraging its operations. More than 780 cities, counties, and special districts throughout the United States use Muni Services’ extensive service offerings, with more than 240 local government clients in California alone. Over the past 30 years, Muni Services has recovered more than $1.4 billion in new tax revenue for these clients.

Muni Services consistently provides the highest quality municipal revenue enhancement services, helping governments meet the growing demands of constituents.  With more than 30 years of experience, no other single organization provides an equivalent range and depth of services.

Is anybody else here getting multiple e-mail notifications of new comments by Jo Tog, and thenRead More clicking the link, only to find that they are actually old comments from Jo Tog, but with today's date on them? What's the deal? Did all his comments get flagged and deleted, and now he's re-posting them? Most curious.

Jo Trog, we live in a Corporatocracy, not a republic. We abdicated the Republic after 9/11, if notRead More before. Know the difference.

Banning the sale in a free market economy is too strong. I believe people should be able to chooseRead More so long as the product is labeled correctly, and even placed in a section with a big sign that says "GM Food products". Would I buy it if I pass the section at the grocery store: NO.
