Remembering 9/11: Where Were You?

More than a decade after the World Trade Center’s collapse, a note a victim wrote and threw from a tower finally fell into the hands of his wife and daughters.

The devastating collapse of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, was more than a decade ago, but one Connecticut family recently learned that the husband and father they lost in the attacks hadn’t died the way they thought.

A note Randy Scott scribbled onto a piece of paper and threw from the 84th floor of Two World Trade Center was passed from person to person until it fell into the hands of his wife and daughters, according to an article in the Stamford (Conn.) Advocate

After reading the note, the family realized Scott hadn’t died instantly when the second plane crashed into the tower near the floors containing the offices of Euro Brokers Inc., where Scott worked, according to the article.

The note read:

"84th floor
West Office
12 people trapped"

According to the article, someone had found the note on the street and handed it to a guard at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. It was minutes before the building collapsed.

The note had a small spot of Scott’s blood that officials used in DNA tests to determine the note’s author and deliver it to his family in August 2011.

The note has forever changed the Scott family’s perception of what happened on Sept. 11.

What do you remember about September 11? Where were you when the towers collapsed?

Who cares where we were then. Where are we now?
Homeland insecurity and an effectual corporate dictatorship with ignorant, apathetic, disempowered consumers acting as if the earth is an infinite resource to be profited from and turned into useless disposable products are us. I am more interested in what we are doing to leave a living planet in our wake, than our stories of fear and scapegoating and endless wars. The only security is to be found in whole community, and taking care of each other and all life, rather than the continual reduction of the commons of Nature into $ values, and the increasing police/military concept of "justice" through control, rather than through communication, listening, and responding to the real injustices and problems in our world. Starvation, clean water, medicine, and education. Why do we continually turn a blind eye, and allow our taxes to be wasted on war and insecurity instead? Can we choose to embody Tikkun ?

right on. So many people are now fabricating their stories that it really doesn't matter. Much more concerned about what has happened since. Out of control spending on made up wars that we will never win. Bush used this tragedy as his excuse to attack an independent nation, Iraq, which had nothing to do with this attack! We have watched as the government has wasted many American lives, wasted billions of our precious tax dollars dollars, literally destroyed a country, paid billions more of our tax dollars to rebuild it then left when we felt like it? WTF are we doing as a nation to allow this sort of action for self appointed royalty like Bush? And Obama continues to use the same types of excuses to keep the military going in Afghanistan. And for what? To put America in a deep deep financial hole we may never recover from? To keep the military industrial complex funded? And nothing changes in these countries except we have produced more small rocks we blew from larger rocks. And to boot the career politicians used this tragedy to take more freedom from we the American people all in the name of their fabricated national security! Now our government uses the 'terrorist' threat to do almost anything they want to and nobody stops them... NOBODY. This is freedom? American politicians commit more atrocities than any other country on earth and Americans continue to fund their actions. Wake up people. What louder, clearer, more distinct wake up call do we Americans need?

I went to the Smashburger in Novato & have to say that it was a disappointing experience. TheRead More burger was very mediocore & the onion rings were awful-very greasy. The staff were not friendly & operated with a "Bambi in the headlights" look about them. I do wish Smasburger luck in their locations. However, from my perspective there is a good deal of work that still needs to be done with the food, staff & service. At this time, "In & Out" Burger is a "hand's down favorite...thanks
