$600,000 Fire on Longview Avenue

Two-alarm fire destroys house in San Anselmo.

Forty fire personnel and 12 units responded to a two-alarm fire on Longview Avenue in San Anselmo Thursday night.

The structure fire at 71 Longview Ave. started at 6:19 p.m. and took until 8:22 p.m. to bring under control.

The building and its contents, valued at $450,000 and $150,000 respectively, were destroyed, but no inhabitants were injured, according to the Ross Valley Fire Department.

A department spokesperson said firefighters arrived on the scene to find a heavy fire in the rear of the building. At that time, a second alarm was rung and engines from Ross, Marin County, San Rafael, Kentfield, Corte Madera and Mill Valley responded to the scene. Engines from Larkspur and San Rafael covered the fire stations.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while combatting the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
