Bike Thefts, Kids Slur and Spit from a Van and Who Stole the 'E' from the Red Hill Shopping Center Sign?

This week's roundup of Centra Marin Police Authority activities in San Anselmo also includes a reported drug-induced attack.

A San Rafael resident reported he was following a van full of juveniles on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. at Bolinas Ave. who were throwing water, yelling slurs and spitting at people. CMPA officers located and stopped the vehicle. The group of juveniles were in the van with their babysitter. They were reprimanded regarding their behavior and released. The officer contacted their mother who stated she would counsel the juveniles when they returned home.

A resident of the 100 block of Jordan Ave. reported her house had been burglarized. Some drawers were open and her computer was moved. Taken was a camera along with all of the jewelry from her jewelry box. A Residential Burglary report was taken. 

A resident of the 600 block of Riviera Circle reported three teenaged females smoking cigarettes on the sidewalk. CMPA officers located and detained the juveniles who they escorted back to Redwood High School. A San Anselmo juvenile female and a Larkspur Juvenile female were arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Minor in Possession of Tobacco Products. They were released to their parents on citations. The third subject, a San Anselmo juvenile female, was dealt with administratively by the school.

A resident of the 10 block of Hazel Ave. reported there was a vehicle which had been parked near their residence for three weeks. A check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed it had been reported as stolen to the Vallejo Police Department on April 5, 2013. The vehicle was not burned, stripped, or damaged, and there was only a rear plate on the vehicle. VPD was notified. The owner was contacted and responded to the scene to retrieve his vehicle. The vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System.

The employee of a business in the 600 block of San Anselmo Ave. reported a female subject stole a blue and white dress valued at $250 and drove away. There was video evidence of the theft. The CMPA Officer was able to contact the involved subject, a Fairfax woman, by telephone. She admitted to being in the store, but denied the theft. A Shoplift report was taken and will be forwarded to the Marin County District Attorney’s Office.

A San Rafael resident reported the theft of his black Specialized Rock Hopper, 21 speeds, mountain bike with front suspension, which was parked in the 200 block of Greenfield Ave. and a red Schwinn bicycle was left behind in its place. Documentation was provided for the theft.

A resident of the 50 block of Foothill Road reported there was a vehicle which had been parked near her residence for a month. A check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed it was reported stolen to the San Rafael Police Department on April 13, 2013. SRPD and the owner were notified. The vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System. 

A resident of the 100 block of Alta Vista reported his unlocked bicycle was stolen from the area of his house. The bicycle is described as a dark blue Giant, with red "rock shocks" on front, valued at approximately $300. Documentation was provided for the theft. 

The Marin General Hospital Emergency Room reported they had a patient, who is a Forest Knolls resident, with a broken nose from being punched in the face while at a residence in the 100 block of Sunnyhills Drive. Pursuant to an investigation, the CMPA Officer was able to determine who the other involved subject was. The other subject, a Forest Knolls juvenile female, was located at the Redhill Shopping Center, where she was arrested for Assault/Battery. She was transported to the San Anselmo Station for processing and then released to her mother on a citation.

An employee for the management company of the Redhill Shopping Center reported someone tore off the "E" in the Redhill Shopping Center sign in front of the center. The loss is estimated at $2,000. A Grand Theft report was taken.

A resident of the 170 block of Oak Ave. reported via 9-1-1 that a male subject ran into the garage and took a red mountain bike and left in a vehicle. He advised that the subject attempted to run him over after the subject said he was picking up the bike for someone and he tried to prevent the subject from leaving. The license plate on the vehicle used by the subject returned to a vehicle that had been reported to the Fairfax Police Department as stolen on April 28, 2013. A Residential Burglary and Robbery report was taken. The bicycle was turned in at the CMPA San Anselmo Station, and the vehicle was located in the 30 block of Mariposa Ave., the following day. There is suspect information and the investigation is continuing.

An employee of a business in the 10 block of Bridge Ave. reported a directory sign board was stolen from in front of the building. The loss is approximately $45. Documentation was provided for the theft. 

A resident of the 180 block of Prospect Ave. reported his brother was on drugs and "attacked" him. He advised he did not need medical attention. The brother fled from the residence on foot prior to officers arrival. The area was checked with negative results. The brother later returned and broke into the residence through the garage door. Officers responded, along with Ross Police Department Officers, and after a short foot pursuit, a San Anselmo man was arrested for Being Under the Influence of Narcotics. While transporting the subject to the Marin County Jail, he became agitated and an additional charge of Failure to Obey a Lawful Order by a Peace Officer was added. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

A resident of the 30 block of Sequoia Drive reported the theft of a bicycle from the carport at his residence. The bicycle is a Breezer Greenway DX, black and copper, 21 speeds, with unique gray handgrips, a red tail light, and a “3 Ring Cycle” sticker, valued at approximately $600. Documentation was provided for the theft and the bicycle was entered into the Automated Property System.
