Bikes Taken, Meds Stolen, Downtown Biz Burglarized and the 'South African Lottery'

A two-week roundup of Central Marin Police activities in San Anselmo also includes a trio vanishing from the scene of a car crash.







While conducting a foot patrol of Memorial Park, a CMPA Officer located graffiti in the men's restroom. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

A resident of the 800 block of San Anselmo Ave. reported she is in the process of a divorce and has discovered her estranged husband forged documents in her name on and account. A Fraud report was taken and there is continued investigation in progress. 

A resident of Mill Valley reported her iPhone 5, valued at approximately $700, was stolen while she at a residence in the 140 block of Oak Springs Drive. The theft was determined to be related to another theft case already taken at that residence. The prior report was supplemented.

A resident of the 10 block of Foss Ave. reported sometime during the night three of his vehicles were egged. Documentation was provided for the vandalism. 

A pet sitter taking care of a residence in the 1300 block of San Anselmo Ave. reported she found the residence had been entered. A Residential Burglary report was taken. There is follow-up pending with the residents when they return to determine what was taken.

CMPA Dispatch received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a vehicle rollover accident in the area of the 1500 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. The callers advised three male subjects ran from the scene. A CMPA Officer located and detained a subject who was a possible match to one of the subjects who ran from the scene and it was determined he had an outstanding warrant held by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office. A Marin City man was arrested for the outstanding warrant and booked at the Marin County Jail. It was later determined he was not to be associated with the vehicle collision. The three occupants of the vehicle were not located. A Hit and Run accident report was taken.

An employee of a business in the 100 block of San Anselmo Ave. reported they had discovered a burglary at the business. The business had been ransacked. It was determined entry was made through the bathroom window. They advised the business next door had also been burglarized from a shared door that was broken to gain entry. Two Commercial Burglary reports were taken. 

A Ross resident reported there are two male subjects sitting on a bench in the 500 block of San Anselmo Ave. acting strangely. He said one of the subjects was standing in the street holding a prescription bottle. CMPA Officers located and contacted the two subjects. A San Rafael man was arrested for Possession of Narcotics and Violation of Probation and a Novato man was arrested for Transportation of Narcotics. Both subjects were processed at the San Anselmo Station and booked at the Marin County Jail.

A San Anselmo resident reported her two locked bicycles were stolen from the bike rack in the 600 block of San Anselmo Ave. A check of the area for the bicycles was conducted with negative results. One bicycle is a gray Santa Cruz Blur, 24 speeds, and the other is a white, black and red Trek, 21 speeds, boy's bike. Documentation was provided for the theft.

A Forest Knolls resident reported he had parked his vehicle at Redhill Center and went to several stores in the center. When he returned to his vehicle, he noticed his driver's side window was now down. He discovered a black canvas bag, containing medications and a cell phone, was missing from his trunk. Documentation was provided for the theft.

A San Anselmo resident reported there was an intoxicated male in a business in the 800 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. who was shouting at customers. CMPA Officers responded and contacted the subject. A homeless man was arrested for Public Intoxication and booked at the Marin County Jail.

A resident of the 1500 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. reported theft of bicycle from in front of his door. The bicycle is a red men's, 18 speed, Rocky Mountain, valued at $1,000. A Grand Theft report was taken.

A resident of the 30 block of Sunnyhills Drive reported her vehicle was taken from her residence. It was determined the vehicle had been towed by the San Rafael Police Department the previous night because it was located as a traffic hazard in their jurisdiction. A Stolen Vehicle report was taken and she was referred to SRPD to retrieve her vehicle.

A resident of the 20 block of San Rafael Ave. reported he received a letter from South Africa in the mail regarding his "lottery winnings", which included a fraudulent check. He was given advice and documentation was provided for the attempted fraud.
