Blotter: Coyote Sightings and Lots of Petty Theft

The San Anselmo Police Log for Dec. 5-9 includes a small gas leak, a suspected prowler and an unsual parking sign.

 

Sunday, Dec. 9

Water main break: 4:26 p.m. Officer initiated activity at Brookside Drive and Broadmoor Avenue. Officer reported a water main break.

Dispute: 10:21 p.m. West Court. RP (reporting person) requested advice regarding a landlord tenant dispute via phone call. Officer contacted the RP and provided advice.

Saturday, Dec. 8

Vandalism: 8:01 a.m. Durham Road. Resident reported his wife heard a noise outside on Dec. 7 at 8:30 p.m. She looked outside and saw two kids running down the lane. RP advised he found the passenger headlight was broken. The resident was contacted and the estimated loss was $70.

Adult party advice: 9:58 a.m. San Anselmo Police Department on San Anselmo Avenue. Citizen reported he wished to speak to an officer about adult parties. The RP was contacted and given advice.

Stolen items: 12:23 p.m. San Anselmo Avenue. Manager reported that in the last couple of weeks, recipe books, recipes, Christmas decorations, and a pair of customer sunglasses, were stolen. RP advised she would like to file a report. The RP was contacted and given advice.

Petty theft: 3:14 p.m. Entrata Avenue. Her unlocked vehicle was entered sometime between 11 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 3 p.m. on Dec. 8. The vehicle had been rifled through and approximately $10 was taken as well as her purse. Marin County Sheriff’s Office located some of the stolen property while recovering a stolen vehicle.

Citizen assist: 9:55 p.m. Officer initiated activity on San Anselmo Avenue. Officer advised he was out with a subject trying to put a bicycle in a car. Determined the bike belonged to the subject and he was assisted and sent on his way.

Assist outside agency: 10:45 p.m. Cedar on Magnolia Avenue. Chris with PG&E advised they will be closing the roadway for emergency road work due to a small gas leak. Beat unit and FD dispatch was advised.

 

Friday, Dec. 7 

Petty theft: 9:49 a.m. Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Resident advised she wished to speak with an officer via phone as anti-freeze and a hose were taken from her unlocked tailgate between Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 7:50 a.m. RP was contacted and loss was $25.

Vandalism: 9:53 a.m. Red Hill Avenue. Caller advised sometime in the past two days her delivery van was vandalized.  The RP was contacted and a log entry number was provided.

Petty theft: 10:21 a.m. Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Resident reported she noticed her gray Cannon dale M300 5 speed mountain bike missing from her porch yesterday about 5 p.m. Loss was $800. RP requested to speak with an officer via phone.

Vehicle complaint: 10:29 a.m. Camino De Herrera and Rutherford Avenue. A citizen reported someone covered a no parking sign with a pillow case and now there is a vehicle illegally parked. The area was checked and vehicle had already left.

Residential burglary: 1:04 p.m. Island Drive. Citizen reported items were taken from his unlocked garage since September 15, 2012. Approximate loss:  $300. The RP was contacted and a report was taken.

Prowler: 7:48 p.m. Red Hill Avenue. Resident reported someone rattled her front door and possibly tried a key in the lock. RP said her dog also started barking, which is very unusual. The residence was checked and everything appeared in order. There were no signs of attempted forced entry. Contact made with the resident who requested extra patrol.

Warrant arrest: 9:43 p.m. Park Drive. Citizen reported a subject she was supposed to meet possibly has a warrant out for his arrest.  Subject was waiting in a black BMW. The Novato resident was located and arrested for the warrant, possession of a deadly weapon, possession of stolen property, auto theft and driving on a suspended license.

 

Thursday, Dec. 6 

Coyote: 9:41 a.m. San Anselmo Av at the Police Department. Officer advised a citizen reported a sick and wandering coyote in the area of Porteous Avenue in Fairfax.  Fairfax PD and humane was advised.

Petty theft: 11:26 a.m. Morningside Dr. Resident reported items were taken from her unlocked vehicle sometime between Dec. 4 and Dec. 5. The RP stated gifts were taken. Total loss $350. The RP was contacted.

Vandalism: 2:23 p.m. Greenfield Avenue. Resident called and wished to speak with an officer via phone regarding tagging. RP stated someone brush painted the back of the building in black with the words "TRAP" and a larger "TMK."

Petty theft: 5:01 p.m. Indian Rock Court. Resident reported a computer was stolen from her residence. RP stated the black iPad with dark gray cover was taken on Nov. 11. Theft occurred when her daughter threw a party while the RP was in Yosemite.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 5 

Assist fire department: 11:06 a.m. Laurel Avenue. Resident reported she heard a noise then saw water coming from the roof on the house behind hers. Determined  a burst pipe on the roof and the call was handled by Ross Valley Fire Department. The resident was contacted and returned home.

Juvenile problem: 3:14 p.m. Saunders Avenue. Resident reported four male juvenile subjects were on her front porch.  RP advised when she got to the door they laughed at her and walked away. Resident was unsure of the direction the subjects left in and felt this was strange behavior.  Area was checked and no subjects were located.

Coyote: 10:01 p.m. Saunders Avenue and Yolanda Drive. Resident reported a coyote walking in the area. RP stated it appeared skittish, but not aggressive. Area units were advised.
