Bomb Squad Comes to San Anselmo

Hand grenade found on Redwood Road.

A tree trimming company found a hand grenade while working on a property at 360 Redwood Rd. this afternoon.

reported that they responded to a call and found a hand grenade in the creek bed of the property around 2:12 p.m.

Officers weren't able to determine if the grenade was live and called in the UC Berkeley Bomb Squad -- who . Images were sent to the bomb squad and the grenade was identified as from the WWII era.

The bomb squad arrived on Redwood Road around 4:45 p.m., said police, and determined it was inert.

Because the grenade was in a secluded area of the property no residents were evaucated and Redwood Road remained open to traffic. However, police remained on the scene throughout the bomb squad's efforts to insure that no one walked into the area.
