A 24-year-old kayaker suffering from dehydration was rescued from Tomales Bay in Marin County on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard received a call from one of four kayakers in the bay at about 11:30 a.m. on Monday requesting medical assistance for a kayaker suffering from stomach pain and dehydration.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter rescue crew from the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco hoisted the man from the kayak and flew him to the Miller Boat Launch, where emergency personnel were waiting, Coast Guard officials said.

There was no update this morning on the kayaker's condition.

The Coast Guard is reminding kayakers that before they take to the water, they should be sure to have a life jacket and a VHF-FM marine radio, check the weather conditions and file a float plan.

More information about filing a float plan can be found at www.floatplancentral.org.
