Fairfax Police: Bottle Rockets, Smart Meters, DUIs

The following information is provided by the Fairfax Police Department. It does not indicate conviction.

The Fairfax police logs did not run this past Friday, because they were missing. The full past week of reports appears below.

Monday, Oct. 3

Hazard: There was a smell of natural gas near the Fairfax Theater at 1:02 a.m.

With Subjects: An officer was flagged down at the Parkade with multiple complaints of a strong gas odor at 9:49 a.m.

Fireworks: Subjects were setting off bottle rockets on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 3:24 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

Public Intoxication: An officer initiated activity on Broadway Avenue at 12:59 a.m.

Suspicious Circumstances: There was a subject down in the bushes at Center Boulevard and Pastori Avenue at 5:01 a.m.

Vandalism: A resident’s car was vandalized on Sept. 29 at White Hill.

Welfare Check: A woman was walking in the middle of the road on Sequoia Road at 12:42 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 5

Fire: Power lines were sparking on Forrest Terrace at 1:17 a.m.

Assist Outside Agency: A baby was locked in a car on Spruce Road at 9:27 a.m.

Disturbance: There was a verbal argument on Pine Drive at 11:31 a.m. with things being thrown around.

Suspicious Vehicle: An officer initiated activity on Pine Drive at 12:25 p.m.

Smart Meter: A complaint of PG&E installing a Smart Meter on Main Court.

Trespassing: A subject who had been thrown out of a unit at Robinhood Manor Apartments was on the premises at 1:40 p.m.

Noise: There was a loud party on Blackberry Lane at 11:03 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 6

Traffic Complaint: A resident was cited for false evidence of vehicle registration.

Welfare Check: An elderly woman was walking up the road at Azalea Avenue and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 1:16 p.m.

Found Property: A drivers license found in San Anselmo was turned in.

Suspicious Person: There was a group of subjects that appeared to be facing off on Napa Avenue at 6:20 p.m.

Driving Under the Influence: A resident was following a possible DUI driver on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard who was weaving at 7:57 p.m. An arrest was made by the Fairfax Library.

Driving Under the Influence: There was a call about an improper parking job on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 11:11 p.m. While dispatch was receiving the call, the intoxicated driver got in the car and drove off toward downtown Fairfax.

Friday, Oct. 7

Noise: There was loud music coming from Peri’s at 12:14 a.m.

Barking Dog: A dog was out on the deck at a residence on Taylor Drive barking for two hours at 6:21 a.m. The dog was also barking the day before and night.

Welfare Check: A resident requested a welfare check on a neighbor on Rocca Drive.

Sleeper: There was a subject sleeping in a van at Maple and Willow Avenues. They believe this is an ongoing issue.

Unwanted Subject: A subject was “mouthing off” and causing problems at the Java Hut on Center Boulevard at 2:42 p.m.

Trespassing: A subject was handing out political flyers to parents at St. Rita’s.

Garbage: Subjects have been dumping garbage at Sequoia Road and Azalea Avenue, including large pieces of furniture.

Skateboarding Violation: There were three teenagers skateboarding on the stage at Peri Park.

Hit and Run: Someone hit a resident’s car on Park Road and left.

Saturday, Oct. 8

Suspicious Vehicle: An officer initiated activity at White Hill School at 12:45 a.m.

With Subjects: Officers contacted a subject on parole at 7-11 at 1:05 a.m. and informed him that his parole officer has been trying to contact him.

Public Intoxication: There was a report of a man so drunk he couldn’t walk in front of Gestault Haus at 1:51 a.m. and an arrest was made.

Hazard: Traffic cones from some other location had been moved and were blocking the road on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 4:19 a.m.

Hazard: Two elderly subjects in wheelchairs were in the bike lane on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

Theft: There was a cold report of shoplifting at Rainbow Fabrics.

Public Intoxication: A possibly intoxicated person was walking on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 1:33 p.m. and was stumbling.

Disturbance: A resident reported that another subject came up and grabbed her hand while she was in her garage on Lansdale Avenue.

Assault: A resident reported a former boyfriend grabbed her by the wrist and hair and threw her to the ground at the Creekside Apartments at 9:06 p.m. An arrest was made.

Alcohol Violation: A resident came home at 11:52 p.m. and found a juvenile wasn’t home on Dominga Avenue. The juvenile was seen walking down the street with some boys.

Sunday, Oct. 9

Animal: A bunny that appeared to be someone’s pet was loose on Dominga Avenue at 2:38 a.m.

Barking Dog: A dog was barking for over an hour on Spruce Road.

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident found an object in her backyard that doesn’t belong to her on Dominga Avenue at 1:38 p.m.

Driving Under the Influence: On a call transferred from San Anselmo, officers made a traffic stop on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 4:19 p.m. and the driver was arrested for DUI.

Fire: There was the smell of smoke on Lansdale Avenue at 7:41 p.m.

Insanity Case: A resident came in to the police department lobby to report that a man was out of control and off his medication and behaving in a threatening manner.

Sleeper: A man was sleeping in a van at Maple and Willow Avenues at 10:34 p.m. Officers found the car unoccupied, but facing the wrong way.

Barking Dog: A dog was barking on Cascade Drive at 10:41 p.m. The dog is taken out very early in the morning and left outside for long periods.
