Fairfax Police Log, May 11 - 14: A Busy Monday Night

On Friday Fairfax was hopping, and while everything was pretty quiet on Mother's Day Sunday, Monday was another story entirely.

 

The weekend in Fairfax was predictably busy for though Sunday was relatively quiet - the Mother's Day effect? - while Monday was uncharacteristically chaotic. Or so it seemed from police reports - among them what appears to be a single restraining order action resulting in at least three calls to the police.

Friday, May 11,

12:46 am, a subject at in Fairfax was warned for being in the park after dark.

2:08 am, a subject was arrested at Broadway in Fairfax for public intoxication and booked into Marin County Jail.

3:30 am, the reporting party at the heard breaking glass, walked outside and found that someone had broken the glass to a display case at the Theater. The responsible subject was located and arrested for vandalism and public intoxication.

4:01 am, two or three subjects on Sir Francis Drake Blvd were reported yelling at each other. The reporting party was uncertain if it was a domestic issue or a "mental welfare situation." The officer contacted two subjects who had been in a verbal argument with two other subjects, who had left before the officer arrived.

6:27 pm, an anonymous juvenile found a pair of sunglasses at Fairfax Park on Bolinas Rd. and turned them into the Fairfax Police Department.

6:41 pm, a citizen advised a police officer of a possibly intoxicated subject at Fairfax Park who was swearing and threatening people in the park. Subject was arrested for public intoxication.

At 7:39 pm, again at Fairfax Park, someone reported seeing what looked like a drug deal, observing a young teenager give an older male cash and receive something in return. Both subjects then left the area, with the older man going toward downtown. Police were unable to locate.

Saturday, May 12

At 12:18 am, again at Fairfax Park, an officer contacted a man in the park after hours and told him to leave.

At 9:26 am, the traffic light at Sir Francis Drake and Pastori apparently malfunctioned, causing issues and complaints when it flashed red.

AT 1:59 pm, a woman reported she was involved in a verbal dispute with her downstairs neighbor over her music.

At 3:22 pm, someone reported seeing one vehicle being chased by another following what was reported as hit and run, property damage only.

At 6:24, an abandoned van was reported at Scenic Rd. and Arroyo on the bridge, where the reporting party said it had been for approximately a week without moving. The vehicle was said to present a hazard for cyclists and motorists who can't see around it.

Sunday, May 13

At 12:05 am, at Fairfax Community Church, a man asked police about his options after he was accosted by a former friend. He was concerned this might happen again.

At 12:30 pm, it was reported that a boy's bicycle was stolen from the Manor School grounds sometime Friday night.

At 3:25 pm, someone turned in a set of Subaru and house keys found in the redwood grove area between the police department and the fire department. The owner came to the station to retrieve her keys.

Monday, May 14

12:38 am, a woman reported hearing her neighbors on Sir Francis Drake Blvd., a man and a woman, yelling at each other, reports hearing "banging" and believes it is physical. An arrest was made.

1:30 pm on Hillside Drive, a party reported that a person under a restraining order was present. Officers abated the disturbance and served the restraining order to the subject.

At 3:03 pm, the staff of a school on Glen Dr. reported a student was harassing another student with phone calls. The parents were present at the school and wanted an officer to respond. A citation was issued.

At 4:30 pm, a vehicle in a parking lot on Center Blvd. backed into a pregnant woman and a car. There were no obvious injuries but medical attention was requested.

At 7:27 pm, the restrained party in a restraining order requested assistance in gathering her belongings from the residence on Hillside Dr.

At 8:39 pm, "suspicious circumstances" were reported when a white female juvenile with a blonde ponytail, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, was seeing lying down and writing something near a slightly open garage door. Disposition: unfounded.

At 8:59 pm, the restrained party on Hillside D.r called the resident, which is prohibited. The caller stated that she was "not far away." Police provided service.

At 9:21, someone on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. called police to complain their neighbors were playing their TV too loudly. It was quiet on arrival.

At 11:39, a custodian on Glen Dr. called to say the water was overflowing and he could not shut it off. He requested assistance, which was provided.

At 11:47, a burglary was reported at a back residence on Spruce Rd. in Fairfax when a woman said her ex-boyfriend came into her residence and took "her amplifier that was given to her." Disposition: Unfounded.

At 11:56, an anonymous person called to report "a lot of loud music and screaming" coming from the downtown area or on Rocca Dr. It was quiet on arrival.
