Father Accused of Savagely Beating Son, 14

Incident took place last month in Hamilton; Rancho Cordova man arrested Wednesday.

A man from the Sacramento area faces six felony charges in connection with the beating of his son in Novato in October, police said.

A man — who will not be named in this story so as to protect the identity of the son — went to an apartment on Hathaway Drive on Oct. 14 where his 14-year-old son and the boy's mother live, acting Lt. Jennifer Welch said. While the boy was on his back, the father — who is 6-foot-5 and 400 pounds — straddled and restrained him, according to the police report. He is accused of punching the boy approximately 20 times in the face and head with both his closed fists, Welch said.

The boy sustained a broken nose, multiple bruises and swelling to his face, according to the report.

The man fled prior to arrival of Novato police officers, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Thursday, the father was located in Sacramento and arrested by a Marin County Sheriff's Department deputy. He was booked at Marin County Jail at 12:02 p.m.

He faces six felonies —two counts of willful cruelty to a child, two counts of making terrorizing threats, one count of false imprisonment and one count of inflicting injury on a child. His bail was set at $250,000.

The booking log says that they arrested him at the Sacramento Jail, so he must have got picked up up there on another charge with that county.

My heart is broken for this poor kid, and hope his "father" gets his due justice!! FYI: Section 8 is not only for scum bag, low lives! Hard working, american caucasian, drug free and honest single mothers need help to be able to survive in this beautiful county. Stop stereotyping- I bet you'd never guess I was in this program!

Dear Blessed, Devin, 4th gen, and Karen. Unfortunately we have citizens like Mr. Belfor who continue to berate, belittle and stereotype people like you who are living in sect 8 housing!! some of the residents living in sect 8 are not always the model citizens, but as the saying goes "a few bad apples do not spoil the whole bunch". God Bless you and there are people in Novato that are aware of the good apples you are!!

Renee, Thank you for the kind words, however, I am fortunate enough that I was able to raise 2 (very successful) daughters as a single mom without gov't aid. People like Craig must find a target to point to as being "less than" to make there ownselves feel better. They are either lacking in self esteem, or just plain mean. Society today is much less inclusive then it was when I grew up in Marin County (1960's). It's sad.
