Fill the Boot to Extinguish Breast Cancer

Ross Valley Fire Department pitches in to fundraise for a cure.

The is participating, with all Marin firefighters, in October's Breast Cancer Awareness month with a campaign to extinguish the illness.

Donations are being collected in a pink boot outside the fire station in downtown San Anselmo or online at the fire department's website. The goal is to fill the pink boot; it will remain in front of the fire station until Oct. 31.

This week, the Ross Valley firefighters are also showing their support and helping raise awareness by wearing pink shirts while on duty.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, besides skin cancer, and is seen at particularly high rates in Marin.
