Gas Leak in San Anselmo

PG&E working on natural gas leak at Madrone and Center.

According to San Anselmo Police, a gas leak was reported at Madrone Avenue and Center Boulevard at 12:50 p.m. Reportedly, a half-inch plastic natural gas pipe was damaged by a construction crew digging a new fence at an apartment complex at the corner, said PG&E spokesperson Katie Romans.

Four tenants in three units in the apartment complex were evacuated as a precaution, but officers and fire department officials said there was no danger. The road wasn't closed and there have been no traffic detours while PG&E addressed the damage.

PG&E and Ross Valley Fire responded to the scene and were still working as of 5 p.m. on repairing the damage. Residents will be allowed to return to their homes once the flow of gas has been shut off. Romans said it is hard to know how much gas has been released since the line was struck.
