Hydrant Sprays Downtown San Anselmo

Police quickly bring errant fire hydrant under control.

A car struck a fire hydrant shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at the corner of Bolinas and San Anselmo Avenues, creating a spray of water that shot into the air.

Reader and San Anselmo business owner Kenji Hirabayashi shot this photo of the water shooting for the hydrant.

San Anselmo Avenue was briefly shut down from Belle to Bolinas Avenues, but the police and fire departments were able to shut the hydrant down within 15 minutes, according to alerts sent out by the San Anselmo Police Department.
