Man Arrested for Felony Threats and Battery

San Anselmo resident arrested Saturday night at 19 Broadway.

Michael Garcia, 21, of San Anselmo, was arrested by Fairfax police at Saturday evening for threats and battery against a co-habitant or spouse.

According to Fairfax Sgt. Stuart Baker, the battery took place Friday night around midnight in Fairfax, but there was a delay in reporting it to the police. The initial report was made to a different law enforcement agency. In addition to battery, Garcia made threats to kill the subject and her family.

The woman who was assaulted did not seek medical treatment and had no critical injuries, said Baker.

Along with confusion over the reporting of the incident, the police also had a number of conversations with the victim in order to make the decision to arrest Garcia. At that time, Baker said police knew they would be able to find him at the popular Fairfax nightclub.

Police officers arrested Garcia around 9:45 p.m. at 19 Broadway. He is currently being held at Marin County jail on charges of threatening to terrorize and battery against a co-habitant or spouse. He is being held on $50,000 bail.
