Man Arrested in San Anselmo for Alleged Assault on Caregiver of Elderly Woman

Police said they found the suspect in the basement of a home where his girlfriend was living with a 94-year-old woman.

Central Marin Police arrested a 31-year-old Rohnert Park man Sunday night after a domestic dispute at the San Anselmo home of a 94-year-old woman for whom his girlfriend was serving as a caregiver, police said.

William Tuiketei Cama was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, false imprisonment and making terroristic threats after an incident that occurred just before 7 p.m. at a home on Crest Road in San Anselmo, according to Central Marin Police Cpl. Sean Kerr.

Kerr said the victim had fled to a neighbor’s house to report the incident, telling police that her boyfriend had just assaulted her and tried to hold her against her will but she was able to escape. Ross Valley Fire Department paramedics responded and took the victim to Marin General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The victim told police that she was employed as a live-in caregiver at the home and that she believed the suspect had fled the home since she called police but that her elderly client was still at the house. Officers went to the home and had paramedics take the elderly woman to Marin General for examination.

They later found the suspect, since identified as Cama, hiding in the basement area of the house, Kerr said. Cama was booked into the Marin County Jail and remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.
