Mobile Home Fire Displaces 12 at Historic C Ranch in West Marin

A fire destroyed two mobile homes and four cars at the historic C Ranch in West Marin Tuesday night, displacing two families – six adults and six children – who were living there, according to Marin County Fire officials.

County firefighters were called to a report of a fire in a mobile home on the historic property in the 22000 block of Sir Francis Drake Blvd just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, Marin County Fire Chief Jason Weber said.

Two mobile homes and four cars were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on the scene, Weber said, and the historic, 1870s-era farmhouse on the property was being threatened by the blaze.

Firefighters stretched hose lines between the structures, defending and ultimately saving the historic farmhouse, Weber said. Fire crews, which also included personnel from Ross Valley Fire, Novato Fire, Inverness Fire and the National Park Service, planned to stay at the scene until the fire was completely extinguished, according to Weber.

Red Cross was called to the scene to provide emergency shelter and supplies for the two displaced families. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Marin County Fire Marshal.
