By Bay City News

A Petaluma man who stole a vehicle and led officers on a foot pursuit was arrested Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A CHP officer saw 26-year-old David Ochoa erratically driving a 1986 Nissan pickup truck out of the Graton Resort and Casino onto southbound U.S. Highway 101 around 10:35 p.m., Officer Marcus Hawkins said.

The officer followed the truck, made a traffic enforcement stop on Ochoa and both exited at Rohnert Park Expressway, Hawkins said.

Ochoa parked the vehicle and fled on foot, he said.

The CHP officer followed Ochoa who ran into a Rohnert Park police patrol car that was occupied, Hawkins said.

Both officers chased down Ochoa and arrested him, he said.

The CHP contacted the registered owner of the vehicle who told authorities that her boyfriend, not Ochoa, drove the truck to the casino, Hawkins said.

With help from casino security staff CHP officers contacted the woman's boyfriend who attempted to locate the vehicle then reported it stolen, according to Hawkins.

Ochoa was booked to Sonoma County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of methamphetamine, delaying or resisting an officer, committing a felony while currently on bail and possession and theft of a vehicle.
