In Novato, an underage decoy went to three locations between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday and asked 16 people to furnish alcohol, according to the Novato Police Department.

By Bay City News Service:

Police arrested seven people over the weekend for furnishing minors with alcohol as part of sting operations in Fairfield and Novato.

On Saturday, Fairfield Police sent underage decoys to approach people outside of businesses on North Texas Street and West Texas Street, according to Fairfield police Sgt. Kevin Carella.

Six people purchased alcohol for the minors or arranged for the purchase of alcohol, Carella said.

Fairfield police arrested Robert Hill, 31, Richard Delagarza, 47, Gregory Brown, 30, Ivan Washington, 51, Patrick Pearson, 30, and William Gaines, 45, all Fairfield residents, and charged them with misdemeanors. The Fairfield sting operation was funded by a grant from the Solano County Supervisors and Fairfield's Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Task Force.

In Novato, an underage decoy went to three locations between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Saturday and asked 16 people to furnish alcohol, according to the Novato Police Department.

One person, William Goetze, 30, purchased alcohol for the minor, Novato police said. Police discovered that Goetze, a San Anselmo resident, had five outstanding Marin County warrants for his arrest, according to police.

Police arrested Goetze and booked him into Marin County Jail. The minor also tried to buy alcohol in six Novato businesses.

Five businesses refused, but an employee at Ghiringhelli's Pizzeria sold the minor alcohol, according to police.

Police issued the employee a citation for providing alcohol to a minor.

Novato's sting operation was funded by the Novato Blue Ribbon Coalition, police said.
