Police Chase Ends in San Rafael

A Mill Valley man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol last night, following a car chase by San Anselmo police officers into San Rafael.

A car was reported with a possibly intoxicated driver heading eastbound on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in San Anselmo around 8 p.m. Saturday evening. According to the San Anselmo Police Department, officers attempted to stop the car at Fourth Street and Ross Valley Drive in San Rafael, but the driver failed to yield.

The San Anselmo officers followed the car into San Rafael, where it reportedly reached speeds of 59 mph and executed a number of evasive maneuvers, while attempting to flee the police.

The car was eventually stopped in San Rafael and Scott Dammann, 41, of Mill Valley was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more, attempting to evade an office, and reckless driving.
