Police: Downtown Yeller Sent to San Rafael; Barking Dogs Given Warnings

The following was reported by the San Anselmo Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

The following is a selection of calls made to the from March 26 to March 29. The full reports can be found on the department's website.

Thursday, Mar. 29

9:55 a.m. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A business owner on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard reported that he believed a customer intentionally took a credit card left on the counter that did not belong to him. Officer made contact with the victim who did not suffer a loss.

11:06 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY
A bicycle was reported left in the area of Redhill Field on Sunnyhills Drive at Sir Francis Drake. Officer responded and the bicycle was taken for safekeeping.

2:31 p.m. PETTY THEFT
A resident of Butterfield Road reported that his license plate was stolen or had been lost.

5:48 p.m. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident of Sunview Avenue reported that a screen had been removed from a window to his residence. Officers contacted the man and determined the unlocked screen had been blown off during the last storm. No merit to an attempted burglary.

Wednesday, Mar. 28

11:52 a.m. PUBLIC INTOXICATION / BOOKING
A citizen reported an intoxicated person was walking in the roadway on San Anselmo Avenue. Officers contacted the subject who was not found to be intoxicated and was moved along.

3:10 p.m. SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Someone 
reported that a man was yelling and screaming at passers-by on Center Boulevard. Officers responded and the subject was gone on arrival. The area was checked and the subject was not located.

4:21 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY
A citizen reported a found bicycle on Luna Lane that appeared to have been abandoned. Officer responded to the residence, but the reporting party was not home and a message was left.

4:37 p.m. SUSPICIOUS PERSON
It was reported that a man was yelling in the area of Tunstead Avenue. Contact was made with a subject mentioned in a previous incident and he was transported to San Rafael.

5:01 BARKING DOG
A woman on Hilldale Drive reported that a dog was barking for an unreasonable amount of time and it has been an ongoing issue. She says she spoke with the owner who brought the dog inside, but she would like the owner of the dog counseled. The officer responded to the residence and the dog was quiet on arrival. A notice was left.

Tuesday, Mar. 27

11:20 a.m. SUSPICIOUS PERSON
A person was reported staggering around the area of Shaw Drive. Officers checked the area and couldn't locate the subject.

3:31 p.m. VEHICLE COMPLAINT
Someone reported two vehicles were seen driving recklessly and erratically in the area of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and stated it was an ongoing problem. The reporting party requested contact and noted the vehicles had left. Officer attempted to contact the reporting party with negative results; message was left.

3:40 p.m. VEHICLE COMPLAINT
A resident of Karl Avenue reported a vehicle was intentionally spinning its tires in the rain. The resident was concerned as there are children in the neighborhood and requested extra patrol at this time only.

3:59 p.m. WIRES DOWN
Someone reported a tree branch had fallen and snapped a power line on Olive Avenue. A police unit provided traffic control until PG&E arrived.

5:44 p.m. HIT AND RUN WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE ONLY
A resident of Yolanda Drive reported someone hit his vehicle and didn’t leave their information. An officer responded and located damage to the front right corner of the vehicle. No suspect information was available.

6:36 p.m. DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED DRIVER’S LICENSE
During an officer initiated traffic stop at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Bank Street, the officer determined driver was driving with a suspended license. He was cited and released and his vehicle was legally parked.

11:37 p.m. NOISE COMPLAINT
A resident of Ross Avenue reported loud music coming from a neighboring residence. Officers responded and contacted the responsible who was advised. Music was turned down.

Monday, Mar. 26

3:06 a.m. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident on Spring Grove Avenue reported an intoxicated male subject walked up to his house asking if he could drink from his hose. The man told the resident he had been drinking. Officers checked the area, but couldn't locate him.

8:42 a.m. BARKING DOG
An anonymous citizen on Oakland Avenue reported a barking dog in the area. Officer responded and found the dog was barking on arrival. A phone message was left and the officer left a notice.

9:29 a.m. BARKING DOG
While the officer was handling a barking dog complaint nearby on Oakland Avenue, another barking dog was found at this location. The resident was contacted and notified of the complaint.

10:38 a.m. ANIMAL COMPLAINT
An anonymous person reported a dog was left unattended in a vehicle with the windows up on San Anselmo Avenue at Tunstead Avenue. The reporting party called the owner (got the phone number off the dog’s tags). The reporting party said that the dog was not currently showing any signs of distress. Officer responded and checked the area, but the vehicle was gone on arrival. 

12:44 p.m. HAZARD
An anonymous person reported a big moving pod was left on the corner of a blind curve on San Anselmo Avenue at Florence Avenue. She was concerned there would be an accident. The officer checked the pod and spoke to a neighbor. He said he was given permission to park the pod at this location by the police department. He will be moving it tomorrow.

1:43 p.m. PETTY THEFT
An officer was flagged down by a citizen on San Anselmo Avenue who wanted to report items were taken from her restaurant. She advised she knew who took them would like the property recovered. A report was taken for a theft and recovery of property, but no prosecution was desired.

5:14 p.m. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident of Willow Way reported someone placed fire crackers underneath her vehicle and they went off when she pulled out of the driveway and it scared her children. The officer made contact and found there was no merit to the firecracker.
