Police Log: A Resident Almost Gets Run Over, a Small Dog Runs Through Traffic

The San Anselmo police log for June 4 through 7 includes illegal camping, a caller saying two quarts of ice cream were stolen from the front of his home.

Thursday, June 7

Vehicle collision: Tunstead Avenue. 11:52 a.m. Officer assisted with a vehicle collision in the area and a report was taken.

Solicitor: Raymond Avenue and Tamalpais Avenue. 12:49 p.m. Caller reported a solicitor came to his door selling magazines and was acting nervous and did not have a permit. Officers checked the area and the subject was gone on officers’ arrival. 

Bike theft: Myrtle Avenue. 2:35 p.m. Caller reported his bicycle was taken from his residence. Officer responded and a report was taken.

Man sittin’ on a motorcycle: Shaw Drive. 3:51 p.m. Caller reported a male subject was sitting on a motorcycle in the area and drinking an alcoholic beverage. Caller noted the subject was sitting there the day before as well. Officers responded and checked the area.  Contact was made with the reporting person and it was determined the subject was sitting far enough from the caller’s location and was not a threat to the business. The subject was not located. 

Wires down: Southview Terrace and Jordan Avenue. 4:02 p.m. Caller reported a wire was down and touching the street. No sparking or arcing was seen. Fire officials responded and assisted with fixing the wires. Contact was made with a cable company who would be responding for another set of low hanging wires in the area.

Reckless driving: Redwood Road. 7:20 p.m. Caller reported she was walking down the street where there was no sidewalk and two vehicles were racing down the street with the tires screeching and did not slow down when they saw her. Caller stated the vehicles were parked at the noted location. Officers responded to the residence where one of the vehicles was parked and attempted contact with negative results.

 

Wednesday, June 6 

Strange suspicion: Greenfield Avenue. 8:18 a.m. Caller reported an intoxicated subject was in the area acting strangely. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subject

Natural gas smell: Greenfield Avenue. 8:50 a.m. Caller reported the smell of natural gas in the area.

Found swimsuit, towels: Taylor Street and Park Drive. 1:51 p.m. Caller reported finding two backpacks left in the area. The backpacks contained a swimsuit and towels.  Officer took the property to the station for safekeeping.

Small dog in traffic: United Market on Red Hill Avenue. 10:05 p.m. Caller reported a small dog was running back and forth in traffic. Officer responded and contacted a citizen in the area who advised the owners responded and took the dog home. 

 

Monday, June 4

Illegal camping: Loma Robles Avenue. 6:01 a.m. Officers contacted two subjects and cited them for illegal camping.

Family argument: Laurel Avenue. 8:49 a.m. A citizen reported a family argument.  Officers responded and found the matter was verbal only. Parties were separated and counseled. The male left and went home.

Vehicle complaint: San Anselmo Avenue. 11:52 a.m. Reporting person said a vehicle almost ran over her neighbor. An officer contacted the RP and provided advice. 

Hit-and-run: San Anselmo Avenue. 1:56 p.m. An officer took a hit-and-run collision report.

Vehicle complaint: Turnstead Avenue. 2:21 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle was blocking a fire hydrant. The officer checked and advised it was an AT&T utility vehicle and worker was making repairs.

Neighbor dispute: Sir Francis Drake Blvd. 4:01 p.m. Caller reported a verbal dispute with a neighbor. Officers responded and both parties were contacted and separated.  They returned to their own residences after counseling.

Ice cream theft: Sir Francis Drake Blvd. 5:22 p.m. Caller reported the theft of two quarts of ice cream from in front of his residence. Officers made contact with reporting person and there was no merit to the theft.

Wire down: Butterfield Road. 5:23 p.m. Caller reported a low hanging electrical wire was across the roadway. An officer and the fire department responded. The wire was phone or cable and the fire department raised the wire so it was no longer a hazard. The officer notified the resident of the wire and the utility companies were notified.
