Police Log: Fairfax's Dog Complaint Days of the Summer

The Fairfax police log for June 15-20 includes barking dogs, a woman bitten by a dog and an assault when a resident picks up after a dog.

  

Wednesday, June 20

Garbage complaint: Scenic Road. 12:59 p.m. Resident keeps putting out what it essentially garbage, but labeling it “free stuff.” Reporting person would like the resident advised this is not an acceptable way to get rid of property.

Walking on rope: Bolinas Road and Elsie. 1 p.m. Subjects have tied rope up to the trees and are walking on them.

Suspicious person: Frustuck Avenue and Manzanita Road. 5:57 p.m. Subject walking down Wreden or Frustuck, screaming obscenities about Vietnam. Reporting person advised the subject had brown hair and was “greasy looking.”

Disturbance: Park Road. 8:26 p.m. Reporting person is in the police department lobby now. Reporting person was stepping outside when another resident grabbed the door and slammed it shut. Reporting person lost balance and stumbled out of the way but didn’t fall.

Deer in the road: Sir Francis Drake Blvd. 10:56 p.m. An injured, or perhaps dead, deer is at the center of the roadway.

Barking dog: Cascade Drive. 11:42 p.m. Dog has been barking for an hour. It’s not like them to bark this late at night. Reporting person requests police knock at the door and check to make sure the residents are OK.

 

Tuesday, June 19 

Alcohol violation: Doc Edgar Park on Cascade Drive and Cypress. 12:44 a.m. Anonymous report of four people in the park, yelling loudly and using foul language. Officer found nobody in the park, but contacted people nearby. One juvenile was cited for possession of alcohol.

Traffic complaint: Sir Francis Drake Blvd and Pastori Avenue. 9:21 a.m. Reporting person said she has seen several people run the red light there recently. She is concerned that the timing might be off on the light cycle, frustrating people into running the red.

Traffic complaint: Cascade Drive. 9:30 a.m. Reporting person said while cycling on Cascade Drive a vehicle crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic to pass him. When the reporting person encountered the driver further up the road he remonstrated with her regarding her driving. She reacted by cursing at him. Reporting person would like an officer to speak with her regarding her actions and behavior.

Vandalism: Meernaa Avenue. 11:08 a.m. Reporting person’s tire looks like it was slashed. It occurred sometime between 10 p.m. yesterday and 9 a.m. this morning.

Traffic complaint: Sir Francis Drake Blvd. 12:49 p.m. Vehicle is stuck halfway out into the road. Reporting person “needs a little tow” but can’t afford an actual tow.

Suspicious person: Scenic Road. 1:11 p.m. Reporting person said a woman came onto her property and kicked her bags of mortar, spilling the mortar all over the ground. Reporting person is concerned there may be further problems with the subject as she seemed very angry.

Barking dog: Sequoia Road. 6:54 p.m. Dog has been barking for half an hour. Ongoing (daily) problem.

Barking dog: Spruce Road. 9:50 p.m. Dog has been howling, as if in pain. It has been going on for 45 minutes now. Officer found the dog quiet upon arrival.

 

Monday, June 18 

Tree down: San Miguel Court and Sir Francis Drake. 4:36 a.m. A tree limb has fallen. Partially blocking the curb cut. Officer determined this could wait until Department of Public Works employees arrived at work.

Suspicious circumstances: Maple Avenue. 11:26 a.m. Anonymous reporting person said mail and delivery packages are piling up at a certain address. She is concerned that it is an invitation to theft.

Found dog: Deer Park Villa on Bolinas Road. 7:02 p.m. Caller found a dog with no collar. It’s a female dog with a mostly black body, white abdomen and feet. Around 10 pounds.

 

Sunday, June 17 

Suspicious circumstances: Spruce Road. 4:16 p.m. Anonymous report of three loud males in the area being loud. Reporting person wants a show of colors in the area.

Burglary: S&N Auto on Bolinas Road. 2:53 p.m. Reporting person came in the back of the business, went up front and found the door busted in. He does not know if anything has been taken.

Barking dog: Spruce Road. 7:09 p.m. Dog has been barking all day from inside the house. Ongoing issue, dog owner is aware of the complaints per RP and has been previously warned. Dog heard barking in the background.

Suspicious person: Live Oak Avenue. 10:41 p.m. Male walking up the hillside, appeared suspicious though not doing anything “criminal.”

 

Saturday, June 16 

Noise complaint: Fairfax Inn on Broadway. 2:14 a.m. Reporting person said a group of subjects is making a lot of noise in their parking area. Reporting person strongly suspects they are intoxicated. Subjects were advised of complaint.

Noise complaints: Rudy Contratti Field on Bank Street. 11:35 a.m. Complaint that the PA system is too loud.

Suspicious person: Maple Avenue. 12:38 p.m. Three men walking up the hill. All wearing light shirts, appeared “gang” like. Reporting person noticed a bulge in one of the subject’s waistband.

Disturbance: San Gabriel Drive. 1:06 p.m. Reporting person’s friend was hit by her boyfriend 30 minutes ago. Caller advised they are still together and the victim is gathering her things. Reporting person believes he might attack her again.

Assault: Redwood Road. 8:24 p.m. As the reporting person walked two dogs on leash on Redwood Road today, one of the dogs defecated on the sidewalk. As the reporting person went to pick up the dog’s waste, a resident ran at the reporting person’s face and began to raise his voice in agitation. Eventually he chest pumped the reporting person. Reporting person felt threatened by the subject and wants him advised not to get physical or aggressive with the reporting person or any of their neighbors.

Animal complaint: Cascade Drive. 8:35 p.m. While reporting person was walking her dog today at 7 p.m. she was attacked by a black lab that got away from its owner. She has two gashes on her leg. She is on blood thinner medication and is having a bit of trouble clotting. She primarily wants to report the incident to the PD and would like a medical evaluation of her injuries.

Trespassing: Porteous Ave. 10:50 p.m. Reporting person believes there is something or someone in the backyard on the hammock.

 

Friday, June 15

Citizen assist: Bolinas Road. 8:05 a.m. Reporting person would like advice regarding a private parking situation with his neighbor and them threatening to tow his car.

Noise complaint: Deer Park on Porteous Ave. Complaint of subjects weed whacking every morning starting at 7:30 a.m. Reporting person requested they be informed that they can’t start until 8 a.m. due to town code.

Unwanted subject: Peri’s Silver Dollar on Broadway. 4:48 p.m. An ex employee is refusing to leave.

Juvenile problem: Peri Park on Park Road. 5:27 p.m. Juvenile in the front lobby of the FPD reporting a problem with another juvenile.
