Police Log: Loud Gatherings and Noises in the Night

Several reports of loud gatherings on Friday night were matched by a fire at Marin Stables on Saturday as police responded to numerous incidents over the weekend.

Friday, March 2:

3:24 a.m. Sleeper: A subject sleeping in his car was warned of the town ordinance and "abated from the area" following a verbal warning.

10:08 a.m. Burglary: A woman reported her computer was stolen from her home office on Pine Dr.

11:43 a.m. An unwanted patron at the Good Earth on Center Blvd. refused to leave and was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail when it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant.

12:41 p.m. Stolen vehicle. A man reported his vehicle, which had been parked on Sir Francis Drake Blvd., had been stolen sometime in the previous 24 hours. It was recovered later that day.

4:34 p.m. There was a walk-in report of a low hanging wire on Wood Lane. [Note: This is the same location as a report of "wire down" that may have contributed to the fire at Marin Stables on Saturday, March 3.]

4:35 p.m. A man showed up at the Fairfax Police Deprt. to report being verbally accosted by his former landlord.

8:07 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances: A man reported that a friend asked if he could use his name to get an ATM card, at Creekside East on Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

8:09 p.m. Driving Complaint: A woman reported that someone seemed to be following her and harrassing her, on Broadway in Fairfax.

9:19 p.m. Sleeper: An RV at Doc Edgar Park was suspected of having someone sleeping inside. A verba warning was issued.

9:20 p.m. Noise Complaint: An event on Dominga Ave. with loudspeakers and people cheering prompted a  call that the noise was too loud. The responsible parties were notified of the complaint.

9:35 p.m. Juvenile Problem: Complaints received near Peri Park in Farfax of “sounds like something is going on… what sounds like teenagers screeching and yelling.” A steady stream of foot traffic from nearby Bolinas Rd. was also thought to be connected. Police issued a verbal warning.

10:14 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances: A resident on Rally Ct, Fairfax heard strange noises and after checking her house found that a window had been shattered. Responding officers checked the area and were unable to locate anyone or anything to indicate it had been maliciously broken.

Saturday, March 3:

1:16 a.m. Suspicious Cirumstances: Report of "pounding on the door" of the apartment below at Sherwood Oaks Apartment on Bolinas Rd. The reporting party thought someone was trying to break in. Officers responded.

2:36 a.m. Public Intoxication. An arrest was made on Center Blvd. in Fairfax for public intoxication, and the subject was booked into Marin County Jail.

11:03 a.m. Suspicious Circumstances: Two men were reported "yelling and chasing each other up and down the street" on Pine Dr. Verbal warnings were issued.

11:20 a.m. Officer warned someone for trespassing at Fairfax Market on Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

3:17 p.m. A group of adults in the playground area at Deer Park on Porteous drinking alcohol during a memorial service, a town code violation.

3:51 p.m. Vandalism was reported at Sherwood Oaks Apartment on Bolinas Rd. when a vehicle was vandalized overnight. Documentation was requested for insurance purposes.

5:31 p.m. At Marin Stables on Wood Lane police responded to reports of a loud “bang” from a transformer and found a live power line down. Shortly after, Ross Valley Fire Dept. responded for a fire at the barn on the property.

9:01 p.m. Reporting party said a number of cars parked in the area of Redwood  and Scenic roads were causing clearance problems, and could prevent a fire engine from getting through. A citation was issued.

9:26 p.m. Someone was concerned that a dog that had got away from its owner did not want to be reunited to the owner. The parties were reported gone on arrival or unable to locate.

Sunday, March 4:

2:23 a.m. Noise complaint. Someone reported people making “a lot of noise for the hour.” She described it as sounding like “a group of guys shouting while watching a game.” Responsible parties were advised of the complaint.

11:47 p.m.: Traffic complaint. A woman reported a driver neary ran over her, her husband and child in the crosswalk at Barefoot Café on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. The driver was last seen eastbound toward Butterfield.

2:43 p.m. Found Property. Someone at the bocce ball courts at Peri Park found an iPod and took it to the Fairfax Police Department.

2:44 p.m. Lost or Stolen Property: A bicyclist reported losing a backpack near Lansdale and Baywood Ct.

4:10 p.m. Lost or Stolen Property. A woman left her debit card in the ATM at the Bank of America on Broadway after making a transaction and asked to be alerted if it is returned.

6:03 p.m. Traffic Complaint. Anonymous report of a vehicle stuck at Willow, causing the light to continuously cycle and creating a backup on Sir Francis Drake.

6:06 p.m. An iPad and reference binder were found in the street in front of St. Rita's Church on Marinda Dr and turned into the police department.

7:45 p.m. Domestic Violence. A woman called to say that her husband was harassing her and she would like him removed from the premises. When asked what was going on the call was disconnected. An arrest was made.

8:38 p.m. Threats. A man asked for advice from an officer regarding threats he received from his brother. A report was taken.

11:26 p.m. Officer initiated activity outside of the Shady Brooks Apartments on Merwin Ave.

11:30 p.m. An officer issued a verbal warning to the driver of a suspicious vehicle outside the Women’s Club on Park Rd.
