Police: Stolen Vehicle, Deer Down and Worried Grandmother

The following was reported by the San Anselmo Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

The following is a selection of calls made to the from March 12 to March 15. The full reports can be found on the department's website.

Thursday, Mar. 15

2:29 p.m. – Vehicle Collision
A woman reported she was involved in a traffic collision on Red Hill Avenue with a bicyclist. Officers responded to the scene along with the Fire Department. The bicyclist was transported to Marin General Hospital.

3:55 p.m. – Narcotic Laws
It was reported that an older model Nissan truck was parked on Greenfield Avenue with juveniles engaged in narcotic activity. The driver did not appear to be involved. Officer checked the area and was unable to locate the subjects

4:41 p.m. – Found Property
A man reported a blue mountain bike had been abandoned in his yard on Cordone Avenue since Saturday morning. Officer responded and took possession of the bike. It was transported it to the Corporation Yard.

10:46 p.m. – Suspicious Circumstances
On Salinas Avenue a man reported a vehicle drove by his house twice and then threw a firecracker into his bushes. He couldn't see the occupants or give a description of the vehicle. It was last seen headed towards Santa Cruz about 5-10 minutes before he called. Area checked, unable to locate. The reporting party was contacted and could only say it was a light blue passenger vehicle.

Wednesday, Mar. 14.

12:05 a.m. - Downed Tree/Blocking Roadway
A tree fell on the house on Melville Avenue but no one was injured. A reporting party stated there was broken glass inside and the power was out. Officers and the fire department responded and found a tree fell on the roof, breaking a skylight. Power lines were affected and PG&E was contacted and would respond. A tree service was also responding to assist.

2:51 a.m. – Public Intoxication/Protective Custody
A man reported a male subject was trying to open his front door on Redwood Road. When the man asked who it was, subject replied with his name and the man told him to go away. Officers responded and located the subject, who had been drinking. He said he was looking for his friend's house, but he lived in Forest Knolls and not at the address on Redwood Road. Subject was taken to Helen Vine for detox.

4:57 p.m. – Stolen Vehicle
A woman stated she received notice that her vehicle was towed on 03-08-12 for being abandoned. She claims that the vehicle was last seen parked on Sturdivant Avenue, in a carport, when she left for vacation two weeks ago.

Tuesday, Mar. 13

8:45 a.m. – Animal Complaint
A woman reported that she collided with a deer on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Butterfield Rd. She said that the deer was blocking a lane of traffic. Officer responded and found the deer was gone on arrival.

11:19 a.m. – Burglary
A theft was reported at a residence on Avenue Del Norte. The reporting party wasn't sure of the time frame but noted jewelry and silver were taken. Officer responded and took a report.

4:04 p.m. – Suspicious Circumstances
A man reported his son’s juvenile friend said a suspicious occurrence that happened to him. The juvenile stated he was walking to his friend’s house at Arroyo Avenue and Butterfield Road when a male passenger in a van drove by, asking if he needed a ride. The vehicle was driven by a female subject. Juvenile declined and continued walking but noted there were no seats in the rear and a white Labrador Retriever was in the vehicle. The vehicle continued driving towards Sleepy Hollow. Officers responded and checked the area with negative results and an informational case was taken.

11:51 p.m. – Suspicious Circumstances
A woman reported heard what sounded like someone running down the hall of her home about an hour ago but determined it was unfounded. About 30 minutes later she found her front door ajar, which was possibly caused by the wind. She requested the neighborhood be checked but didn’t want her house checked. Officer circulated the neighborhood but didn't find anything suspicious.

Monday, Mar. 12

3:57 a.m. – Suspicious Circumstances
A man said he was staying at a friend's house on Ross Avenue when someone threw a rock at him and took his wallet. The reporting party declined medical attention. Officer contacted the subject but couldn’t determine exactly what happened. Contact was attempted with the other party with negative results. The reporting party stated they would attempt to handle the matter civilly.

4:09 a.m. – Disturbing the Peace
A caller reported a woman was outside on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard — yelling for no reason. Officers responded and contacted the subject who was in the process of moving. She was warned and abated

4:51 a.m. – Disturbing the Peace
Two separate callers reported a fight occurring outside on Ross Avenue. The reporting parties stated they could hear people yelling and threatening each other, and someone yelled for the police to be called. Officers responded and contacted one party, but the other refused. One part was abated from the area and

10:59 a.m. – Vehicle Tampering
A man reported that the reported the tailgate to his trailer was stolen the night of 03-09-12 on Red Hill Avenue.

1:24 p.m. – Burglary
A bicycle was stolen from a garage on Calumet Avenue.

7:39 p.m. – Suspicious Circumstances
A woman on Butterfield reported she was speaking to her grandson on the phone and the line disconnected. She wasn't able to reach him since, but there were no signs of distress. She requested the street be checked. Officers checked the area with negative results. The woman called back and said her grandson’s cell phone battery died and he was home now and was ok.
