Police: Suspicious Person Recruiting Feral Cat Feeders

The following was reported by the San Anselmo Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

The following is a selection of calls made to the from April 13 to April 15. The full reports can be found on the department's website.

Sunday, Apr. 15

2:13 p.m. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A citizen reported people were drinking beer in a parking lot on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Officers checked the area.

2:15 p.m. VEHICLE COMPLAINT
Someone reported that vehicles were unable to get through the street on Santa Barbara Avenue at Pasadena Avenue because other vehicles were parked on both sides of roadway. The officer checked the area and there were no problems found.

3:18 p.m. SUSPICIOUS PERSON
A resident of Caleta Avenue reported a subject came to her door asking if she wanted to help with feeding feral cats. The woman thought it was suspicious and that he may have been casing the residence. Officers responded and checked the area with negative results.

8:36 p.m. BARKING DOG
A citizen stated he could hear a dog barking somewhere in the area of Angela Avenue and Oak Springs Drive. Officer checked the area but found it quiet on arrival.

Saturday, Apr. 14

12:40 p.m. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A resident reported a beeping sound was coming from the left side of a residence on Santa Barbara Avenue. Officers responded and located an unsecured rear door. The residence was checked and the noise was determined to be coming from an alarm clock. All appeared secure.

10:27 a.m. SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Someone reported a man was screaming in the area of Memorial Park. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the subject.

11:43 a.m. SUSPICIOUS PERSON
An anonymous person reported a man acting strangely, yelling and waving his arms on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Officers contacted the subject who was a 45-year-old man and determined he had an outstanding warrant out of Marin County. He was arrested and booked at Marin County Jail.

4:03 p.m. ANIMAL COMPLAINT
A man reported he caught a dog that was running loose in traffic on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Tamal Avenue. Officer took custody of the dog and turned it over to the Humane Society. The Humane Society later advised the owner was found and it was returned to them. 

4:43 p.m. ADVICE GIVEN
A man reported that a person came to his home on Foss Avenue reporting an internet scam where his street address was being used. An officer provided advice.

5:30 p.m. HAZARD
An anonymous person reported a cyclist was in traffic causing a hazard on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Officer checked the area, but did not locate the cyclist. Disposition: Unable to Locate.

Friday, Apr. 13

1:04 p.m. SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
A woman reported someone was in her backyard on Nokomis Avenue, banging on the sliding glass door, and upon seeing family members inside the residence, ran off. Officers responded and checked the area. The subject was not located.

7:02 p.m. VEHICLE COLLISION - MINOR INJURY
A solo bike crash occurred on Sais Avenue and the subject was conscious, but had an injury to his face. Officers and Medical responded. The cyclist was transported to Marin General Hospital for treatment. The bicycle was taken to the station for safekeeping.

11:50 p.m. JUVENILE PROBLEM
Someone reported six juveniles were playing across the street on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and were associated with a large truck. Officers responded and they were gone on arrival.
