San Anselmo Police: Cars Spray-Painted, Coyotes, DUI Hit and Run

Thursday, Oct. 20
Open Door: An officer located an open door on San Anselmo Avenue at 1:49 a.m. and secured it.
Disturbing the Peace: There was an upset subject on Butterfield Road at 10:36 a.m. Officers met with the subject and provided transportation to the bus stop.

Animal: There were three dogs off leash at Memorial Park.
Fire: A resident reported a fire on her stovetop on Willow Way at 12:15 p.m. and she couldn’t put it out.

Petty Theft: Items were stolen from a resident’s property.
Suspicious Circumstances: A customer refused to pay the taxi fare on Red Hill Avenue at 10:12 p.m. An officer responded and the subject paid the fare and the driver transferred the subject to his destination.
Disturbing the Peace: A resident reported that her upstairs neighbor was yelling at her on Mariposa Avenue at 10:50 p.m. The upstairs neighbor later called back and said the downstairs neighbor was calling out threats.
Wednesday, Oct. 19
Vandalism: A resident reported his wife’s car had been spray-painted during the night on Ross Avenue.
Vandalism: Two cars on Miwok Drive were spray-painted during the night.
Warrant Arrest: An officer initiated activity at the police department and a man was arrested and booked into the county jail for outstanding warrants.
Vandalism: A resident reported a window and headlight on her car had been smashed on Laurel Avenue.
Hit and Run: A resident reported a hit and run to her car during the night on San Anselmo Avenue.
Petty Theft: A bike was stolen on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
Temporary Restraining Order: A resident reported a temporary restraining order violation on Butterfield Road at 2:41 p.m.
Municipal Code Violation: There was a leafblower violation on San Rafael Avenue at 2:47 p.m.
Suspicious Circumstances: A resident thought a man was following her a San Francisco Boulevard and Santa Cruz Avenue at 9:33 p.m. The subject also called the police and said he wasn’t following her. Officers contacted both parties and found it was a misunderstanding.
Animal: Coyotes were howling in the area of San Francisco Boulevard at 11:13 p.m.
Smoke: Officer located smoke at a residence on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 11:39 p.m. and found the resident had a fire in the fireplace.
Tuesday, Oct. 18
Driving without a License: At a traffic stop at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Butterfield Road at 6:24 a.m., a woman was determined to be driving without a license. She was cited and released and her car was impounded for 30 days.
Petty Theft: A resident reported cash was taken from her wallet.
Burglary: Someone entered a garage on Bank Street and took a briefcase.
Accident – No Injury: A fire hydrant was damaged during an accident at Bolinas and San Anselmo Avenue at 1:58 p.m. Upon arrival, MMWD was on the scene and reported there was no damage.
Grand Theft: A bike and camera was stolen from a garage on Sequoia Drive a few days earlier.
Citizen Assist: A resident reported her child accidentally locked her infant in their car on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 7:08 p.m. The baby was fine, but there wasn’t a spare key.
Driving Under the Influence: A female driver hit a tree at San Anselmo and Tamalpais Avenues at 8:56 p.m. and fled the scene. Officers responded and couldn’t locate the vehicle. Contact was made with a number of witnesses and a report was taken. Another witness came into the police department to report she located the car. A woman was contacted and arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was booked into the county jail without incident.
Suspicious Circumstances: A resident reported someone tried her doorknob on Ross Avenue at 9:08 p.m., but didn’t get in since it was locked.
Monday, Oct. 17
Noise: People were outside on Ridge Road yelling at 1:11 a.m.
Municipal Code Violation: There was a report of a leafblower violation at Brookside at 7:45 a.m. The maintenance supervisor said they would work with the school so they could return at 1 p.m.
Suspicious Circumstances: A man was riding a bike on Myrtle Avenue and asked a resident if she had copper.
Driving Under the Influence: A car ran over a stop sign and was driving erratically at San Anselmo and Florence Avenues at 2 p.m. Officers located the car and driver. He was arrested for DUI and hit and run and was booked into the county jail without incident.
Hit and Run: A resident reported a hit and run collision at San Anselmo and Forrest Avenues at 2:39 p.m. It was determined to be related to the DUI arrest.
