San Anselmo Police: Man Lying in Street, Mailbox Smashed, Battery

Sunday, May 8

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident reported he was driving down the street on Forrest Avenue and saw a man lying in the road with a jacket over his head at 2:49 a.m. Officers determined he was ok and was taken to a nearby relative’s house.

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident saw a man in her yard on San Anselmo Avenue at 4:24 a.m. He yelled something, then left.

Disturbing the Peace: A neighbor was yelling at his wife on San Anselmo Avenue at 7:05 a.m. and was threatening her. Officers located the man at his house, but the woman was wandering around downtown and transported her home.

Vandalism: A mailbox was smashed on Suffield Avenue. The neighbor heard a car the night before and a voice saying, “Come on, do it, dude.”

Vandalism: A resident’s car mirrors were vandalized on Prospect Avenue at 8:42 a.m.

Animal: A dog was wandering around in the back parking lot off of San Anselmo Avenue at 1:11 p.m.

Suspicious Circumstances: A house on Carolina Avenue has been vacant for a few months, but a resident recently saw people removing fixtures and the lights have been on and the hot tub running.

Smoke Check: Smoke was coming from a car on Tunstead Avenue at 3:07 p.m.

Driving Under the Influence: A resident reported a driver almost hit their car on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 10:19 p.m. Officers checked the surrounding areas.

Saturday, May 7

Noise: There was a loud noise from a residence on Red Hill Avenue at 3:36 a.m.

Municipal Code Violation: A number of signs were removed around town.

Parking Violation: A car had been parked on San Rafael Avenue all day without moving. The car had an expired plate that didn’t match the VIN and had current tabs. The plate was confiscated.

Battery: A resident reported he was going to be jumped by some subjects and they tried to run him over in their car at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Butterfield Avenue at 10:56 p.m. Officers responded and separated the parties. Two males were cited and released.

Friday, May 6

Fraud: A resident reported that his bank account had been used fraudulently online.

Vandalism: A resident wished to report vandalism on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 2:57 p.m., but officers located no damage.

Suspicious Person: There was a report of a subject “gyrating” on the sidewalk at San Anselmo and Bridge Avenues at 4:04 p.m. Officers said the subject appeared to be fine.

Burglary: An officer took a report of residential burglary on Broadmoor Avenue at 4:48 p.m.
