San Anselmo Police: Unlocked Cars Broken Into, Suspicious Phone Call

Sunday, Nov. 21

Petty Theft: A number of cars were ransacked over night on Alder Avenue, Durham Road, Los Angeles Boulevard, Santa Cruz Avenue, San Francisco Boulevard, Monterey Avenue, and Alderney Road.

Suspicious Circumstances: A car was reported sitting in a lot on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard all morning and it had its hood up, but no one was around. An officer found the vehicle had its battery removed as if it were being replaced. An officer later returned and the car had been moved.

Reckless Driving: A black car was reportedly following another car and trying to hit it in an attempt to intimidate the driver on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 12:36 p.m.

Driving Under the Influence: A resident was driving behind a car at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Red Hill Avenue at 5:41 p.m. and reported that the car had been all over the road since the freeway. Officer contacted the driver and determined there was no merit to a DUI.

Reckless Driving: A car was driving in the opposing lane of traffic on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at Barber Avenue at 7:43 p.m.

Petty Theft: A resident's bike was stolen the week before.

Barking Dog: There was an anonymous report of a dog howling outside a residence on Oakland Avenue at 10:32 p.m. An officer responded, but no one was home. The dog was barking continuously.

Saturday, Nov. 20

Petty Theft: Two bikes were stolen from a parking lot on Ross Avenue.

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident reported receiving a wrong number call with a man asking for something and a woman in the background saying, "Help me, help me" at 5:29 p.m. After calling back, the person said she had dialed in error and was just trying to reach her parents. Singing could be heard in the background and nothing suspicious.
