San Anselmo Police: Unlocked Cars Rifled Through, Large Teddy Bear Found

Thursday, June 30

Driving Under the Influence: At a traffic stop at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Bank Street at 1:15 a.m., a man was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and booked into the county jail.

Noise: There was a loud noise coming from the rear of a business on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 2:19 a.m.

Disturbing the Peace: A man and woman were arguing on Palm Lane at 4:05 a.m. Officers determined it was a verbal altercation only.

Burglary: Unknown subjects attempted to break into a resident’s car on Ross Avenue sometime during the night.

Suspicious Circumstances: A child was sleeping a car seat in a car at Suffield and Bennitt Avenues. Officers checked the car, but there was no one inside.

Petty Theft: An unlocked car on Laurel Avenue was entered during the night.

Reckless Driving: An officer was flagged down regarding an erratic driver at Center Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue at 9:24 a.m.

Petty Theft: An unlocked car was entered on Ross Avenue during the night and miscellaneous items were taken.

Burglary – Auto: While on the scene investigating the previous incident, an officer located another victim vehicle on Ross Avenue.

Vehicle Tampering: Sometime during the night, an unlocked car on Laurel Avenue was entered. Nothing was taken.

Suspicious Circumstances: An officer was flagged down regarding a suspicious person on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. He was sleeping in his car.

Suspicious Circumstance: A subject was yelling on Tunstead Avenue at 3 p.m. 

Wednesday, June 29

Unwanted Subject: A resident reported that his ex-girlfriend was waiting for him at his house on Morningside Drive at 12:22 a.m.

Suspicious Person: There was a suspicious person on San Anselmo Avenue at 12:07 p.m.

Animal Call: There was a dog in a car barking and possibly in distress on San Anselmo Avenue at 3:35 p.m. Officers checked and the windows were open and there was water.

Hit and Run: There was a hit and run on Tunstead Avenue at 4:59 p.m. 

Tuesday, June 28

Barking Dog: A dog was left at a residence on Oak Knoll Avenue at 12:31 a.m. and could be heard barking from a few blocks away. Officer contacted the responsible party and a written warning was issued.

Petty Theft: A GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked car on Foothill Road at 4:48 p.m.

Solicitor: There was a solicitor on Plumas Avenue at 6:51 p.m.

Hit and Run: A resident reported her car was hit by another car on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 7:08 p.m., which then left the area.

Hit and Run: A car backed into a fence on Hooper Lane at 8:15 p.m. and then drove off.

Monday, June 27

Found: A very large teddy bear was left on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 3:35 a.m. It was believed it was stolen from a business downtown. Officer responded and confirmed it was not a match.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon: A resident came into the police station at 3:51 a.m. and reported he was stabbed by his roommate. He had several lacerations to his face and hands and was treated by medical staff before being taken to the hospital. Officers located and secured the crime scene. A man was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the county hail for assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.

Suspicious Circumstances: A car was seen at Butterfield Road and Rosemont Avenue at 11:5 a.m. taking off fire hydrant plugs. Officer checked the area and no caps were missing.

Accident – No Injury: A woman reported she was involved in a non-injury collision on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 2:57 p.m.

Suspicious Person: A man appeared to be intoxicated at Greenfield Avenue and Lincoln Park at 4:28 p.m. Units located the subject, who had been drinking earlier. A family member responded to pick him up.

Warrant Arrest: Officers contacted a man on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 5:07 p.m., who had an outstanding warrant out of Marin County.

Burglary: Two cell phones were taken from a house on Red Hill Avenue.

Unwanted Subject: A homeless man was reportedly harassing customers on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 7 p.m.

Suspicious Circumstances: A man was trying to light something on fire at the side of a building on San Anselmo Avenue at 10:24 p.m. Officer found it was a piece of paper.

Juveniles: A group of juveniles was abated from Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 11:18 p.m.

Suspicious Circumstances: A man appeared to be loitering near cars on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 11:22 p.m. Officers found it was a resident who was in his own car.
