A double murderer died at Marin General Hospital on Wednesday from injuries he suffered in a four-story plunge at San Quentin State Prison a day earlier, the Marin Independent Journal reports.

Thomas Curby Henderson, 60, was serving a 40-years-to-life sentence for the killings of his ex-girlfriend and her 5-year-old son for which he was convicted for first-and-second-degree murder, the Associated Press reports.

His first parole hearing was scheduled for March 12.

His death is under investigation, prison officials told the Associated Press.
