San Rafael Police Arrest Two Suspects in Downtown Gang Shooting, Search for Two More

A man was shot in the back in downtown San Rafael Tuesday evening, according to police.

Police arrested two suspects and are looking for two more involved in a possible gang shooting that injured a man in downtown San Rafael Tuesday evening, according to spokeswoman Margo Rorhbacher. 

Franklin Samuel Deleon Vicente, 24, and Jorge Luis Martinez, 20, were booked in Marin County Jail early Wednesday morning on suspicion of assualt with a firearm and participation in gang. They're being held in lieu of $50,000.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., four suspects fled in a dark colored car after a man was shot in the back near the intersection of Fourth Street and Tamalpais Avenue. The victim, a 26-year-old man from San Rafael, was transported to Marin General Hospital and underwent surgery. He is expected to survive, according to Rorhbacher.

Interviews with witnesses lead detectives to the 200 block of Woodland Avenue, where they arrested Vicente and Martinez shortly after midnight. The suspects first court appearance is Thursday at 9 a.m. 

"The investigation is continuing, as is the search for the remaining two suspects," Rorhbacher said.
