‘Scary’ Red Lights Flying in Formation in the Sky and a Coyote Sighting

The San Anselmo police blotter for Nov. 9-12 includes a man arrested for cultivation of marijuana and probation violation.

 

Monday, Nov. 12

Suspicious workers: 1:01 p.m. Ross Avenue. RP (reporting person) said three male subjects were working on a property, but the RP believed the property owner didn’t hire outside workers. Officers responded and contacted them. They were breaking up concrete and putting in pavers. Nothing suspicious was noted.

Bike theft: 2:24 p.m. Foothill Road. RP reported someone stole her bicycle from her yard. Officer contacted the RP and a report was taken.

Marijuana cultivation: 3 p.m. Durham Road. Officers conducted a probation search for the 44-year-old Erin Hoff, a carpenter. A large amount of marijuana was confiscated from the residence. Hoff was arrested for cultivation of marijuana and for violating his probation terms. He was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Coyote: 8:16 p.m. Scenic Avenue and Elm Avenue. RP reported she saw a coyote walking down the street. Incident was documented.

 

Sunday, Nov. 11

Staggering: 3:20 a.m. Red Hill Avenue. RP reported a possibly intoxicated subject was staggering in the middle of the street. Officers located the subject and determined no merit to him being intoxicated. Subject was advised to stay on the sidewalk and sent on his way.

Verbal altercation: 4:53 p.m. Belle Avenue. RP said a male subject yelled at her for leaving her bicycle on the common steps. Officers contacted both parties. It was a verbal altercation only and advice given.

Juveniles ‘screeching by’: 7:17 p.m. Saunders Avenue and Sir Francis Drake Blvd. RP reported a group of male and female juveniles were skateboarding and being loud. RP noted some vehicles were also “screeching by” in the area. Officer responded and contacted a group of juveniles who were advised of complaint and moved along.

Disturbing the peace: 10:04 p.m. Prospect Avenue and Sturdivant Avenue. RP reported he was walking his dog in the area and a bicyclist came down the hill very fast and nearly hit him. They exchanged words, and the cyclist continued on. Officer contacted the RP and provided advice. 

 

Saturday, Nov. 10 

Unwanted subject: 4:19 a.m. Sir Francis Drake Bl.  Employee reported there is an unwanted subject in the store. RP stated they don't open until 5 a.m., but man is in aisle #7 and refusing to leave after being asked repeatedly. Contact was made with the subject. He stated he was attempting to visit his father, who is in prison. He was abated from the store and given directions to San Quentin. 

Trespassing: 3:41 p.m. Spaulding Avenue. RP reported at the station to seek advice on how to deal with squatters on his property and property line issues from today and in the past. Officer contacted the RP and advice was given. RP requested extra patrol for the area.

Juvenile problem: 3:49 p.m. Scenic Avenue and San Anselmo Avenue. Officer advised he had been flagged down by a bicyclist reporting roughly four teenagers in an older black sedan throwing objects at bicyclists. 

‘Scary’ red lights: 9:17 p.m. Cordone Drive. RP reported via 911 that she could see 30 "scary" red lights in the sky, flying in formation. RP further stated you should be able to see them from anywhere in San Anselmo.  The area was checked and officers were unable to locate anything. However, the RP was contacted and did have photos of lights that appeared to be in formation. Several of her neighbors also saw the lights, but there were no other calls.

 

Friday, Nov. 9

Suspicious circumstances: 9:15 p.m. Bolinas Avenue. RP reported her friends are out of town and there was an unfamiliar subject with a vehicle fronting the house. RP saw the subject get out and walk along the side of the house. Contact made with the subject who was determined to be the house sitter. The RP was advised.

Suspicious circumstances: 5:50 p.m. Traxler Road. RP reported someone had knocked on the door and they would not say who they are. RP heard a big truck, male voice, then whistling, then the truck possibly pulled away. The residence was checked and determined the RP received a delivery from UPS. RP was contacted and advised.

Suspicious person screaming: 6:20 p.m. Center Blvd. and Bridge Avenue. RP reported a subject was standing on the corner screaming at passing vehicles and walking into the street and then back to the curb. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subject.

Public intoxication arrest: 10:45 p.m. Sir Francis Drake Blvd. RP reported a male subject yelling at one of the businesses to the rear of his house. Area checked and contact made with a subject who was arrested for public intoxication and booked at Marin County Jail, to be released without charges.
