Stolen Jewelry Uncovered After Burglary Suspects Apprehended

Police are investigating if the two women were the same individuals who told a resident they were picking up an item they purchased on Craigslist roughly 10 minutes before a neighboring San Anselmo resident caught two alleged burglars in his bedroom.

Two burglary suspects were apprehended Thursday afternoon after a San Anselmo resident confronted two women in the master bedroom of his home on 100 Oak Avenue.  The suspects, who appeared to be ransacking dresser drawers and going through jewelry, fled when the resident approached them. The resident called the police with a detailed description of the suspects and Central Marin Police Authority officers stopped them on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. at College Avenue, near the College of Marin in Kentfield. Officers found stolen jewelry and a license plate stolen from San Francisco in the vehicle. The Oak Avenue resident came to the arrest location and identified the suspects as the women he had confronted in his house.  The suspects, 30-year-old Rohnda Smith, of Richmond and 40-year-old Ielia Pryor, of San Francisco, were each booked into Marin County Jail in lieu of $50,000. They are facing charges including burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime. The Central Marin Police Authority is searching for community members who might have had jewelry stolen recently that might be linke to the case.   The police received a call about two women knocking on the home of another door in the neighborhood roughly 10 minutes before the incident. When the resident answered the door, the women said they were picking up something they had purchased on Craigslist. Police are investigating if those women were the same burglary suspects.  Police are also investigating if the suspects were involved with other burglaries in the area — some could date back to six months, according to Central Marin Police Authority Cpl. Sethi Jervan. In the jail-booking log, Smith listed her occupation as “roofing” and Pryor listed her occupation as “hotel.”
