Suspicious Van Offers Ride to Boy

Third incident with suspicious van approaching children in Ross Valley.

Tuesday afternoon, reported the third incident of a suspicious van approaching a young child in the past few weeks.

A 13-year-old boy reported to police that he was standing in front of the fire station on Butterfield Road around 3:30 p.m. when he walked past a van parked on the west side of the road.

According to police, when the boy walked past the van, the door opened and the passenger window rolled down. The male passenger asked the boy if he wanted a ride, but when the boy said no, the woman driving the van drove away.

Police searched the area, but found no one matching the description.

In February, two similar incidents were reported. The first week of February, a San Anselmo girl reported a white van approached her while she was waiting for the bus. And, then, on Feb. 14, another girl reported a white van approached her outside the Fairfax Market.

The said after those incidents that there had been no other incidents and no additional information they had uncovered.

The man and woman in the van in Tuesday's incident were described as a white female in her 20s with black hair and a white male in his 20s with long blondish hair. The two also had lab-type dog with them and were driving a silver van with no seats in the back.
