Two Men Arrested for Attempted Burglary

Fairfax officers arrest two men mid-burglary.

Nelson Lara Riviera, 26, of Bend, OR, and Antonio Roque, 29, of Novato were arrested around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon after attempting to break in to a residence on the 400 block of Bolinas Road, said Fairfax Police Chief Chris Morin.

Police received a call at 3:27 p.m. from a woman. While on the phone with 9-1-1, the woman reported hearing the doorbell ring, ignoring it, and then hearing people trying to enter through doors and windows.

Two officers responded and detained Lara immediately upon arrival at the scene, said officers. Roque was caught about two minutes later by Chief Morin as he ran down Bolinas Road.

According to Morin, both suspects were interviewed and confessed to attempting to burglarize the property. Two reportedly came to Fairfax and were looking for a hillside home with open carports. If they found a house with no cars, they would target that residence, they told officers.

Both were arrested and booked into the county jail on charges of attempted burglary and conspiracy. Bail was set at $50,000 for both.
