Fairfax Honors Retiring Fire Chief

Ross Valley Fire Department Chief Roger Meagor's retirement culminates a 32-year career.

The Fairfax Town Council last week issued a proclamation honoring retiring Ross Valley Fire Department Chief Roger Meagor

The council also sent off the retiring chief with a gift, a set of engraved pens, at its Wednesday night meeting.

"He's just a wonderful man and he's been an unbelievable chief," Fairfax Mayor David Weinsoff said.

Meagor headed the department for eight years. His retirements culminates a 32-year career.

The department serves the communities of Fairfax, San Anselmo, Sleepy Hollow and Ross.

"We are better as a community for the fact that (Meagor) chose to come to work here," Weinsoff said.

"As a member of community my head hits the pillow with a little more confidence these eight years knowing that the chief has been running our fire department so effectively."
