Get Your Holiday Treats

Wine shop coming and town going the extra mile.

Egg Nog is Everywhere

'Tis the Season for trees, candles, lights, wreaths, and Egg Nog -- and coffee shops throughout town are making every sort of concoction with the thick yummy goodness. So head over to any coffee shop in both towns and grab an Egg Nog Latte, or a steamer, or just a cold, cold glass of the good stuff. We take it straight at our house and buy it by the gallon.

If one more stop on your over-filled calendar can’t be made, remember that all our grocery stores always have lovely cookies and sweets for whatever strikes your fancy while filling up your cart with the basics. And don’t forget ; they always have great cookies, cakes and cupcakes. Plus, consider ordering your rolls for your parties, dinners or a coffee cake for special mornings. They are really just too delicious.

Moving Truck in On the Move

is loading up the U-Haul this morning and will be shutting its doors for good today. Such a sad day, but thankfully the Mill Valley store is still around so amazing treasures from around the world can still be found just a few towns away.

No Wine-ing

It looks like things are progressing smoothly for the some-day-soon wine bar that will be taking over where the recently vacated (Holly has moved her shop up to Sonoma with a different twist but still the same flair). And owner, Colm Glass, is gearing up to open a fantastic venue for eating, but mostly drinking, wine bar.

Don’t save your sips though, because the place needs a bit of work to transform it, but if all goes accordingly (fingers crossed) this Spring may find San Anselmo with just the place it needs to kick a little nightlife into it. In the mean time, remember that is a fantastic place to sip and savor. Donna at Cucina has an amazing selection of wines and she offers a great deal on Tuesday’s where bottles are 40 percent off.

Public Service with Public Works

Last week, on Friday afternoon, San Anselmo Public Works Director Sean Condry walked up and down San Anselmo with Community Services Director David Donery to inform business owners on San Anselmo Avenue about a PG&E-scheduled maintenance project and .

The tree lighting ceremony, which was held Saturday evening, meant closing off the street to parking and driving so that sleighs, fire engines and families could wander and wonder at the magic of the holiday lighting up of the town. And David wanted to make sure that business owners and employees were aware of the situation.

Sean wanted folks to know that PG&E would be working on a section of San Anselmo Avenue today (Monday, Dec. 5) in front of where the old pharmacy used to be (years ago, next to Town Hall). They tried to have the project postponed until after the holidays (to no avail), but also to say that they were hoping PG&E would be able to start extra early and finish up in one day so that holiday shoppers wouldn’t be inconvenienced.

I hope you’ll agree with me that this was the extra mile service that makes working and living in this town so wonderful. Not only are things getting done and great events are happening, but the town is working really hard to communicate with everyone who might be affected by projects and events to insure that things go as smoothly as possible.
