Other facts
I am a life-long Marin resident. I am running to prevent the District from giving away Marin General Hospital to a private corporation for 30 years, and to keep a conflicted private Board from spending millions of public dollars secretly. A similar lease giveaway 28 years ago was disastrous, causing the loss of $250M+ and MGH's reputation. I want transparency and accountability for all MGH operations. My education uniquely qualifies me for this. The District Board plans to put a $300-$500M bond/tax on the ballot next year. They want money to replace what they lost on the last bad lease. We cannot let history repeat itself. We need to reevaluate expenses. The MGH CEO gets over ONE MILLION DOLLARS in taxpayer money annually to run a small, limited hospital. The District has paid out millions of taxpayer dollars for attorneys’ fees, only to lose $100 million worth of claims for the last failed lease. I wish to protect our beloved hospital from control by the self-interested to save Marin General Hospital for our future.
