Long Officially Announces Candidacy for 2nd District Supervisor Seat

Field includes incumbent Katie Rice and Fairfax Councilmember David Weinsoff.

College of Marin Trustee Dr. Eva Long officially announced her candidacy today in the 2nd District Supervisor race in Marin County. 

Long filed by the March 9 deadline to run in the June 5 election in a field that includes current Supervisor Katie Rice who was appointed to replace Hal Brown after his retirement this past October. Also in the race is Fairfax Councilmember David Weinsoff.

Long was re-elected in 2011 to the College of Marin board of trustees, where she was the top vote-getter countywide.

According to a news release, she has previously served on the Workforce Investment Board of Directors and the Ross Valley Sanitary District Board of Directors. Long has been involved with Marin County civic organizations including the Marin County Red Cross, Kentfield Planning Advisory Board and Wednesday Morning Dialogue.

Long says her strengths are her public policy experience as an elected official and her willingness to have an open door policy for public dialogue to build public trust, confidence and open communication.

“I will fight for priority critical issues such as public safety and law enforcement, pension reform, assure quality of public health for families, children and adults, decision-making process for local planning, roads and maintenance, stabilize and achieve financial security and sustain a reserve with prudent management/accountability” Long said.

Professionally, Long is a teacher and education administrator. Currently, she is a consultant that focuses on leadership, management and organizational development
