New Councilmembers Sworn In, Mayor Selected

New councilman Ryan O'Neil and re-elected councilman Larry Bragman were sworn in Wednesday night, .

Before stepping down as Mayor, Bragman also thanked the staff, volunteers, and his fellow councilmembers.

"Thanks to my colleagues on the council, who actually don't walk in lockstep with each other, but manage to find consensus when there is consensus to be found," he said.

After seating the new council, the first order of business was for the council (with little surprise) to elect Vice Mayor Pam Hartwell-Herrer as Mayor and Councilman John Reed as Vice Mayor.

Fairfax resident Sierra Salin have an alternative suggestion for avoiding the stress of selecting a new mayor.

"I'm just going to offer myself up to be mayor," he said.

The evening also marked the retirement of long-time councilman Lew Tremaine. Check back for a video of his remarks looking over his 12 years later today.
