Sanitary District Receives Financial Award

Ross Valley Sanitary District gets certificate of achievement for financial reporting.

The Ross Valley Sanitary District announced yesterday that it received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.

This is the second year the district has received the certificate, which is awarded based on the judging of a comprehensive annual financial report. The comprehensive annual financial report was prepared by district Business Manager Wendy Martin-Miller.

“I think our ratepayers need to understand that this award was given by an impartial organization after its panel of experts reviewed our financial reports,” said General Manager Brett Richards in a press release. The district has , particularly after a .

According the Marin Independent Journal, 99 percent of the entities that submitted reports received the certification:

Kathy Schultz, a senior program assistant for the [Government Financial Officers Association], said that in fiscal year 2009, 3,804 entities submitted financial reports and 3,751 of them, about 99 percent, were awarded certificates.

In Marin, other agencies to receive the certificate in 2010 include the Central Marin Sanitation Agency, the North Marin Water District and the Novato Fire Protection District.
