Weekend Routine: San Anselmo's Police Chief's Weekend Revolves Around his Granddaughter

San Anselmo's Police Chief, Charles Maynard, shares his weekend traditions with Patch readers.

When San Anselmo Police Chief Charles Maynard retires, a date that might fall in December 2013 depending on the timeline of the San Anselmo Police Department's consolidation with the Twin Cities Police Authority, he will have served as the town’s police chief for 13 years. The Santa Rosa resident recently shared his weekend routine with Patch.

The Apple of His Eye

“I spend a lot of time with my granddaughter,” Maynard said, referring to the four-and-a-half-year-old Taylor Ann. “Sometimes we have her every weekend depending on what her parents’ schedule is. My life use to be playing golf on the weekend or working on the house, but now my life revolves around our granddaughter.”

Out and about

Maynard, who Taylor Ann calls “Pop,” and his wife, Janice, take their granddaughter all over the Bay Area and beyond. “We went to the zoo last weekend and we take her on vacations with us.” They also may stay close to home in Sonoma County and go to the park or to the movies. “She’s just a joy to be with.”

Southern California swimming

Sometimes Maynard and Janice take Taylor Ann to their home in Southern California, where they spend most of their time swimming. Maynard said after he retires he’s planning on spending more time in Southern California.

Is anybody else here getting multiple e-mail notifications of new comments by Jo Tog, and thenRead More clicking the link, only to find that they are actually old comments from Jo Tog, but with today's date on them? What's the deal? Did all his comments get flagged and deleted, and now he's re-posting them? Most curious.

Jo Trog, we live in a Corporatocracy, not a republic. We abdicated the Republic after 9/11, if notRead More before. Know the difference.

Banning the sale in a free market economy is too strong. I believe people should be able to chooseRead More so long as the product is labeled correctly, and even placed in a section with a big sign that says "GM Food products". Would I buy it if I pass the section at the grocery store: NO.
