2011 Golden Bell Awards Honor Marin Teachers

Over 60 teachers awarded for excellence from around the county.

The annual Marin County Golden Bell Awards, May 26, put on the by County Office of Education, recognize teachers from every school in Marin County for outstanding achievement.

The late Barbara McCune was selected as the classified employee of the year; it was the first time a Golden Bell has been awarded posthumously. 

These were the teachers from Tam High Union that were awarded a Golden Bell: Lynn Christofferson (San Andreas), Charley Ehmann (Drake), Ann Jaime (Redwood), Iris Meyers (Tamiscal), and Catherine Welter (Tam).

In addition, these programs received recognition: Redwood/Advanced Journalism (Tom Sivertsen), Drake/Partners at Lunch (Liz Montague and Shelly Norstad), and San Andreas/Life After Graduation (Lynn Christofferson).

In the Ross Valley School District, these were the teachers honored: Dan McLaughlin (White Hill), Melina Nevarez (Wade Thomas), Chris Lyons (Manor), Lindsey Coye (Brookside Upper), and Alicia Hanks (Brookside Lower).

In addition, the Elementary Learning Center program at Brookside Upper was a recipient of the outstanding program award.
