Featuring Park Ranger and Historian John Martini

John Martini is a native Californian and National Park Ranger for more than 25 years at parks including Fort Point, Alcatraz Island, National Maritime Museum, the USS Arizona Memorial, and the Presidio in San Francisco. John is an acknowledged expert on America's coastal defenses and consults with state and federal agencies on the preservation, restoration, and interpretation of seacoast fortifications and artillery.

For many years John was stationed at the Marin Headlands as a Supervisory Park Ranger for Interpretation and Education. He is the author of numerous books about the military history of San Francisco, including Fortress Alcatraz, The Last Missle Site, Fort Point: Sentry at the Golden Gate, and the newly published Fort Baker Through Time.
