Mindfulness 101 at Spirit Rock Meditation Center

A half-day retreat with alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation and sequential instructions in mindfulness practice. There will be direction in mindfulness of the breath, body, emotions, thoughts, and broader patterns of experience, both more personal and more universal.

This half-day will be held mostly in silence with some short talks, and will generally focus on establishing more firmly a mindfulness practice, both on the cushion and in the flow of daily life.

Donald Rothberg, PhD has practiced insight and metta meditation since 1976. He co-teachers a weekly Insight Meditation class with Sylvia Boorstein at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and is a core teacher at the center. Donald is a long-time organizer and teacher for the Buddhist Peace Fellowship and is the author of The Engaged Spiritual Life: A Buddhist Approach to Transforming Ourselves and the World.

Teachings are appropriate for individuals as well as health care professionals. Continuing Education credit available: 3 CE credits available for MFTs, LCSWs, psychologists and nurses from SRMC-SCRC for $30. Prepayment available on website.

Cost $35 - $55 sliding scale, plus a donation to the teacher. Add $5 if paying at the door. Young Adults (18-26) and Seniors (65+ with limited and fixed income) are invited to attend this day for $25.
