Ross Valley Sanitary District to Host Informational Meeting

Ross Valley Sanitary District, the 111-year-old sewer agency serving Ross Valley, will host an informational meeting for its Board of Directors and the public that will review and discuss the mission and goals of the Marin Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). The May 9 meeting in the Community Room at Drakes Landing in Greenbrae will consist of a presentation and discussion led by Peter Banning, Executive Officer of Marin LAFCO. His agency was created by the Legislator in 1963 to discourage urban sprawl and encourage the orderly formation and development of local government agencies. In light of the June 2010 Marin County Civil Grand Jury report that concluded 130 mostly unrelated local government agencies created excessive costs and an overlap in services, of special interest will be Mr.Banning’s discussion of the annexation and consolidation process for communities and Special Districts.
