Young Composers Challenge "Workshop West"

Young Composers Challenge “Workshop West” — a FREE event for young musicians ages 13-18!

Marin Symphony is proud to host the first-ever event of its kind on the west coast: the National Young Composers Challenge “Workshop West” at San Domenico School in San Anselmo, CA on Saturday, October 6th, 2012.

The full-day Workshop West is FREE and open to all young musicians ages 13-18. Attendees will learn the principles of composition, orchestration, music notation, and scoring software from nationally recognized composers. Participants may then compose a work for chamber ensemble or full orchestra. Twice a year, a panel of judges will select three orchestral, and three ensemble compositions to be performed by the Orlando Philharmonic each spring, and the Marin Symphony each fall.
