Repeat All-MCAL Selections for Wheeler, Young

The water polo standouts are among seven Drake athletes to be honored with first-team all-league distinctions in Marin County Athletic League fall sports.

Three girls and two boys from ’s powerful water polo teams were voted All-Marin County Athletic League first-team distinctions when the league announced its awards for fall sports this week.

, and all garnered first-team honors off the girls team that won the MCAL championship. For Wheeler, it was her second consecutive season on the first team.

Quinn Galli was selected to the second team, while and goalie claimed honorable-mention spots.

For Drake’s boys team, the MCAL’s regular-season champs, , a repeat selection, and claimed first-team spots. Will Sale and David Ross were placed on the second team.

Pirates volleyball standout earned All-MCAL first-team honors for the second consecutive season, joining teammate on the first team. Sofie Merrifield claimed an honorable-mention spot.

Six Pirates were honored in football, but none on the first team. Quarterback , wide receiver , offensive lineman , kicker and defensive back were selected to the all-league second team, while linebacker was got an honorable-mention spot.

Midfielder Ian Slaughter was a second-team selection in soccer, while Molly Carmody earned an honorable-mention distinction in tennis.
