Wow - just one military recruit and he's going to an Academy. We do live in a privileged community.. I'd love to be able to actually see where people are going, but clicking on the images doesn't launch them at a larger size. Kelly, is there a way for you to upload larger images that humans can actually read?

Too small. Doesn't enlarge.

Some kids may want this info kept private......

Hi Gina -- I responded to you on fb too. My understanding is the kids shared this info themselves with the school paper, which ran these maps in their edition and online. They gave us permission just to rerun them. So, unless I misunderstood, the kids opted to provide the info? To that end, about size -- sorry, if you click on the link to the Jolly Roger, you can see the original on the school paper's site. I'll try to fix it on our end.

And, nope, just figured out, our photos don't run any bigger, unfortunately. But, if you click the link to the Drake Jolly Roger, it'll take you to their original, which zooms in.

Hi Kelly, I understand the kids shared their information with their small school paper, but was knowledge that their personal information would be published in the "Patch"( and Facebook media)and permission given by all of these kids who are graduating? Gina

Hi Gina -- I'm not sure what the Jolly Roger's survey of the kids said when they asked for their info. But, the Jolly Roger already has the map online (drakejr.com) and the Jolly Roger runs a number of their stories on their own facebook page (I don't know if they've run this one yet, but they frequently can and do) - so, what I'm saying is this info is already published online in this exact same form. And the paper gave us permission to run the map and the kids gave permission to the paper. Additionally, I'm not sure what exact concern any student or parent might have with this info? It has no ages or addresses or contact info. It presents no danger. The kids I wouldn't imagine are embarrassed or don't want to share the info, or else they wouldn't have shared it at all? This map simply lists names of the graduating class (those who opted in) and the schools they're attending -- all that info can actually already be found in different forms on the internet, if someone wanted to find it. More than anything, this is simply a way of congratulating and recognizing the graduating students, I think. I think the community, more than anything, wants to give their support to these kids.

I agree that congratulating and recognizing our graduating students and showing where they are off to, in this next big step of their lives is wonderful, in their own school paper where they gave that specific information. My discomfort comes as a mother and teacher,( we are not even allowed to post the children's new schools, in our own school hallway, they are posted only inside the classrooms.) This is a much younger group that I work with but, with all the recent, tragic news regarding young college students, I guess I personally don't like the idea of posting personal information on facebook for the world to see .... Gina, I can understand your concern, but the kids themselves post like crazy on Facebook, so I think the Patch having this link is just a drop in the bucket. I personally am interested in seeing where they're going since I knew many of them at White Hill. Congrats Drake grads of 2011!

Please make picture bigger. Can't read it.

Click on the Drake Jolly Roger link (in blue) under the Tell Your Neighbors about Patch (in green), then on the Jolly Roger site, if you click on the map, everything will become readable size
